Hacking VIDTV Patch in Gamma

I'm using a 3.2u NTSC with starfall installed and Gamma as the backup loader and am trying to get Monopoly PAL working. I have turned on the Force NTSC option and that made it work, however my question is is what does the VIDTV Patch option do? And I guess while I'm asking what do the different hooks do?
