Have a bunch of movies encoded for the iPod touch. I assumed that since the PSP supports h.264 and mpeg4, there would be no problem playing them on my PSP (CFW 5.00 m33-6). I assumed wrong (or I'm doing it wrong..) - the PSP says it's "unsupported data".

Quicktime lists the following properties for one of the movies:
Format: H.264 480x270, Millions
AAC, Stereo(L R), 48.000 kHz
Movie FPS: 29.97
Playing FPS: 29.97
Data size: 482.26MB
Data rate: 740.75 kbits/sec

Any idea why it won't play?

Nope, the PSP uses a different format than iPod (just because they both use h.264 and mpeg4 doesn't mean they're the same).
Here's a free converter to use: http://www.pspvideo9.com/

I personally reccomend this. It's a fantastic app for PC that will convert to any given format. If I recall, it even supports DVDs!

Problem with converting is it takes a significant amount of time.. is there a video format that both the iPod touch and the PSP would support?

ACK.. used a different program called WinFF (already had it installed to convert videos for iPod classic) to convert to PSP format.. PSP complains the converted video is "unsupported data" (facepalm)
