To preface, I have in the past modded my old Nintendo DSi XL recently and I've been mostly happy with it. A couple years ago, I modded an old family Wii with a broken disc drive to play Wii and GameCube games off USB, which my siblings are pretty happy with until I need to find specific roms. That being said, I'd like to be treated as a total noob, dumb it down for me as much as you can. I've dug around forums, but honestly, it's all very confusing and I'm very new with forums in general, and I'm hoping someone can help me out. As much as I am happy with my Switch, I feel like it still is lacking in many features that fans are clamoring for. My biggest reasons for wanting to install CFW is so that I can install personal themes, and run emulators, mostly to play classic Star Wars games, but also the obvious classics from Nintendo like Mario 64 or Link to the Past. I have my system updated to 8.1.0, but as far as I'm aware, I can mod my Switch as it is in the green, unpatched region (Not which thread that's in, told you I was new to forums). I only use online services for Hulu, YouTube, and Warframe (although I don't play that as often as I'd like). I just don't fully utilize Nintendo's online features outside of their cloud saves. Anyway, I'm not sure what other info I would need to provide, but if anyone has any advice, that would be fantastic!

Okay, that's something I haven't heard of. What exactly is a sig patch?

what he meant to say was,

by default, on sdsetup.com , the "signature patches box" is unticked for some reason

this is why some people installed all the CFW but didn't get the signature patches

Because signature patches = 99% piracy. So enabling it is only for user to choice.
