Valve has confirmed that it is not developing any titles for portable or mobile systems.

"We're about people sitting on their couches or at their desks," writer Chet Faliszek told Kotaku in a recent interview.

The company has not looked into expanding its development beyond PC and consoles for future games.

"We haven't forayed into [portable gaming]," Faliszek said. "It's just not a space our engine has been looked at or optimized for."

"We're slow to move on to new platforms," added Igo Madal, project lead for Counter-Strike: GO.

Valve is currently developing Dota 2, which will release exclusively on PC. A release date has not yet been announced.[/p]

Good. I really wouldn't want such a great company such as Valve leaving us PC gamers in favour of 'the more popular market'. I also can't imagine playing Counter Strike on a touch screen... eww.

Valve was built on PC gaming, defined PC gaming, and now basically owns PC gaming. I think they're fine where they are.

And they do offer us a few fun console ports (L4D was pretty good and The Orange Box, outside of TF2, was great).

I agree that Valve defined PC gaming, and they also revived it, without Valve, PC gaming would've died. I can't imagine a world without Valve PC games in it [IMG] No Portal, L4D, TF2, HL etc etc

More notably, no Steam. Steam has become such a huge part of PC gaming that I don't see what would happen without its existence.

Games for Windows Live would be the shit.

I'm not at all surprised, I mean, I'd be more surprised if they said they were going to.

Yeah...Games for WL Sucks shit. And I don't see Origin getting any love anytime soon, not sure if it'll stand up to the competition of Steam.
So yeah, Steam = Ace Of PC Gaming.

YES! YES! mnghh YAA!! in your face iOS

the best games are made on the PC and consoles. handhelds try to mimic it or are there for ppl who want to hold smaller devices but hardcore gamers will often go for these big devices.
nice move valve; no date with the best unless u match their category.

inb4 what do u mean best games huh?! I mean longer, more graphically, more richer, more expansive... i am not talking about gameplay or quality but the sheer content that can be packed into it.
when u have games like the 40+ GB ff13 compared to the awesome PW 32MB or Ghostrick 128MB

Yeah, it's gonna be a loooong while before portable devices are fully comparable to PC's. Hence, Valve has no reason to settle for any less than the PC platform [IMG]

GIVE ME DOTA2 NAW! ITS AN ORDER. If the new CS doesn't have the hardcore recoil as the 1.6, then it can go and fuck itself.

A shame I won't be able to take L4D's co op action on the go anytime soon, but hey, the guys at Valve know what they are doing. If this is the way they want to go, well, I trust them.

I would find it way to hard to concentrate on the great valve titles on a little handheld device.

Imagine trying to play Portal with a small device.... well it sounds awsome but it wouldnt be.

Portable devices will never be comparable to PCs. If you're not aware, PCs are ALSO advancing ahead. They aren't waiting at i7 for mobiles :wtf:

Do you know how long it takes them to develop for the PC alone?

It's called "Valve Time" for a reason.

I think id software also deserves a bit of credit in that front they kinda helped pave the way for valve to become what they did

Not really a surprise considering what kind of games they mainly make. Ever thought of playing HL on a touch screen? God awful imho..

Don't cry out loud, it's a smart move by Valve, most of their hits were a huge success on a PC much more then on consoles, just compare each of their release to their counterfeit on consoles (sales)

Game companies spreading themselves too thin is why we end up with shitty games.
