It's basically common knowledge that Valve is working on hardware. With numerous job listings and hirings for hardware developers and a hands-on with their new piece of hardware, the fact is that Valve, who almost singlehandedly changed the distribution of PC games, is putting its fingers in the console pie. Now, it looks like they want you to help playtest it.

Valve is now letting you sign up to playtest "released and unreleased versions of [their] games as well as play around with some of [their] hardware prototypes." This means, if you're lucky, you'll be able to get your hands on the gaming headset Valve has been developing, similar to that of the Oculus Rift, and get a chance to play some (released and unreleased) Valve games like never before.

The survey (available below) asks you to simply fill out some information on your experience as a gamer, as well as some questions pertaining to motion sickness. Most of these headset devices do bring motion sickness as a side effect, so this seems like a common question.

Sign up below and give it a shot. Maybe you'll play Half Life 3.

It probably says it somewhere, but do you go somewhere to test the hardware or are they sending it to you?

It doesn't say but I'm guessing you need to be able to get to Seattle (where Valve HQ is located) or some other testing location.
Well, I might as well sign up anyway since there seem to be no penalties or anything like that for
not making it to the location.

I might not get pick anyway.

Hating the average time per week question being asked, tempted to leave blank.

Lol, I guessed on pretty much every single one of those "Hour" questions, I hate them as well. Too many and I look like a no life, too few and I look like a casual.

Today's been a pretty lucky day for me so far, maybe I'll luck out with this too :P

Head(set) games, always you and me, baby,
Head(set) games, 'til I can't take it anymore,
Head(set) games, instead of making love, we play,
Head(set) games!

Come on, Valve, don't make yourself a stranger... or should I say, a foreigner.

They probably included the zip code question to see who's physically-available and who could be left with software testing.

I filled it out anyways. I don't expect to get picked, but this is useful data for them. I like how they segregated the Valve questions from the others, so people ass-kissing wouldn't interfere as much with the other data collection.

lol I loaded up my steam to see how many games I had on there. Had 229, and thought about how many of that was indie bundles.

Being that I've never gotten to beta test for anything ever, I doubt I'll get picked this time. One can only dream :P
