uTorrent is Going so Slow!

Ok, seriously, it's been on for about 2 and a half hours total, and my download's only 0.5%! It's only going at most 4 KB per second! And my download is only about 900 MB...

I haven't downloaded anything in awhile from uTorrent, but this is ridiculous! My computer isn't that slow. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

how many seeders are there for the torrent?

is the incoming connections indicator, at the bottom of uTorrent, red, yellow or green?

is the torrent from a private tracker or a public one? (do not name the tracker here)

It has nothing to do with your computer. The torrent is probably a bad one.

What's the difference between a Public and Private tracker? It might be public, because all I did was go to the site, download the torrent file, and then download the torrent... I didn't sign up or anything.

What ISP are you with? Alot of them in the States and Canada are using traffic-shaping when it comes to torrent packets. Comcast are well known for it.

People tend to seed a lot when a torrent is new (made within a month).

I use Demonoid... Well, got an account but never used their torrents yet.

DDL = Less hassle
Torrent = Alternative

When you look for torrents, make sure to sort them for seeds.
Get the torrent with the most seeds.

Yeah like everyone said, when it comes to torrents there are way too many variables to determine why it's going slow.

Seeds, connect ability (ports forwarded?), how much stuff the seeders are seeding/downloading beside this.

I can make a suggestion though. Try http://bittornado.com/
It's the simplest GUI and usually the fastest client. It will also automatically ban people using bitcomet from connecting to you (because bitcomet sends crap data)

You could also try bittyrant which is a cheat client. I've never tried it myself so I'm not sure how well it works. Supposed to be fast though because it tells people you're uploading more than you are.

Registering at that same site will make no difference.

Look for a torrent that has lots of seeders ... not just one ... and try and get yourself on a private tracker ...

Anyway, seeding is like seeding in real life. You create more oxygen in the atmosphere for other people to breath.

You need to seed an equal amount to your download, otherwise you'll be banned. People tend to seed more on private sites so they are loved by the community more.

Well how long does it have to be and who tells you when you can stop? How do they know you just didn't turn off your computer? I have to turn off PeerGuardian sometimes to get to certain sites, and I don't wanna risk that again.
