Uses for a Banned Switch

Haha! So the sysMMC is faster? And there is no need to boot into emuMCC anymore?
If you're banned anyway, there's no real reason to use the emuMMC.
Not only does it waste space on your SD card for nothing, it also requires to you to pick everytime what to boot into from hekate whereas you could just auto-boot into sysNAND with Atmosphère from now on.
And yes, the internal MMC is usually faster than the SD card but only slightly (at least in case of the Nintendo Switch).

If that helps, I even went the route to flash my emuMMC onto my sysNAND on my old V1 Switch although it isn't even banned. I realized I almost never booted into the sysNAND anyway, Nintendo's online service is a joke and so there was no real reason for the dualboot setup. Of course I have a NAND backup of my clean NAND just in case.

Btw you definitely should make a NAND backup even if you're banned, before you flash your emuMMC onto your sysNAND because apart from homebrew/CFW the only real other reason for an emuNAND is that there's an additional layer of protection if you manage to break the system somehow.
That is however very unlikely, unless you do something stupid with HacDiskMount or something like that.

tl;dr: Make a NAND backup (just in case), then flash your emuMMC onto your sysNAND and have hekate auto-boot into it with Atmosphère.
If you need assistance with that process, just raise your hand.

I use my banned Erista Switch for homebrew and pirating leaked games to play in public before release, making people jealous. I can typically get the latest leaked Pokemon game and be playing it while in line to buy it on release night at GameStop. It's wild and a lot of fun. Also keeps my other Erista Switch clean and legit for online play.

I installed PPPlay and turned my Switch into a portable videoplayer.
Don't know why Nintendo never released a decent videoplayer, except for the $3 extra costs for codec licenses.

If you don't play online it will be the best machine.
Hi,

My OG Switch was recently banned due to a homebrew app that somehow found is way onto my sysMMC, and accessing Nintendo's servers. I'm curious about whether or not being banned could actually be somewhat of a good thing, depending on the situation. I know that you can still play your physical copies of your games, update the firmware, and update games through DBI or other software if the Switch is modded. And I would also assume that, since there's no more concern about being banned, you wouldn't need to use 90DNS, exosphere, the Atmosphere redirect tool, or anything like that. So, I am thinking that there could be less hassle or maintenance while still being able to run CFW.

I do have an unbanned, unmodded Switch lite that I plan to use normally for Nintendo's servers and online play.

Basically I was just wondering what others think about having a banned Switch. Is it worth it or not? Are there workarounds for updating games, DLC, etc.?

I would be interested in hearing any opinions and thoughts.

Keep it updated to run the latest games, and use it to test games you might want to buy.

Most games don't even co.e with demos anymore, and the ones that do are usually too short, or don't let you play long enough to give you a proper taste of the game.
