Looks like the old Gameboy dev idea with some little toggle switch to let the 2 know which cart is being inserted? Dumb as all hell, and watch it be exactly what that notch is for....

99,9% it's just that u can't insert a switch 2 cartridges in switch 1

There is a lot more to the process than just being able to rip the data. Remember that all of this data is encrypted with no way to get the encryption keys. And for all we know they could have redesigned it to not work with that dumper.

But a mechanical trigger that the switch knows which game gen is inserted, is very unlikely.
That would just be another source of error/problems.

Yeah but a game dump without a decryption key is completely useless. You'd need both the system and game specific key.

it's been reported that some switch 2 games will be backwards compatible with the switch 1 minus the frame rate and graphic upgrade etc ....

Some switch 2 games like rune factory will have the switch 1 version on them so I’d imagine you can dump the switch 1 versions from the switch 2 cart

No, for example the BOTW for the Switch 2. Is just BOTW with the Switch 2 upgrade included on the cartridge. (This is the only "backwards" compatible game I've seen so far.)

The NX2 is all but guaranteed to use different encryption keys from NX. No way an NX1 is going to be able to decrypt contents encrypted for NX2. It won't simply be a firmware update.
