Is it possible to put a save game for Mario Kart Wii onto a USB stick and put it on the Wii through Homebrew? I have one that let me copy the protected one for Brawl, but I think I used an SD card which is long gone, all I have now is my USB thumb drive.

I'm pretty sure there's save game managers that allow this

http://wiibrew.org/wiki/SaveGame_Manager_GX

I know this one supports dumping saves to sd, not to sure bout usb
I keep getting "error! (Ret = -1)" on it. I think I used it before. It's a data.bin file, maybe it's in the wrong directory? Not sure.

Edit: I got it to view Tue list of save games, but Mario Kart is not there. The Brawl one is, but the folder has more in it than the data.bin in the Mario Kart folder. Any suggestions?

Wii savegames are in /private/wii/TITLE/XXXX/data.bin (XXXX is the game's ID). This format is used for real NAND savegames.

Save game manager GX uses a setup similar to emunand, so a savegame would be in /savegames/000100014e415250/

Now if i understand correctly, you have a MK Wii data.bin savegame that you wanna transfer to the Wii.
To use this you have to put it in /private/wii/TITLE/RMCE/data.bin on a SD card .
Then go to Wii menu-->settings-->data management-->save data-->Wii-->SD and copy it to your realnand.

Now, once the save is installed on realnand (or even an emunand if you use one) you can extract it with Savegame manager GX and puti it on SD, HDD, wherever you like.

I don't have an SD card, though. So I would need to install something extra to use USB?

Well in that case the save must be in the second form

You can then use Savegame manager GX to transfer it to the Wii.

You need an SD card to transfer data.bin files due to the way Wii save & channel transfer works.

Is there a place to download the second form? I don't have an SD card and can't afford one at the moment.

Edit: Scratch that, I found one. Thanks for helping me identify the issue, though.

@Xdqwerty No you heard wrong, and don't believe till you experience yourself. Fallout 4 is one of my favorite games of all time. Yes it had issues early on, esp with older hardware like the xbox1, but it is awesome, esp now being 4k on Series S/X or PS5

@BigOnYa, Then i think people were talking about fallout 76
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    that one was buggy too
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea you right there, fallout 76 was a letdown, but it not that bad now, they have fixed slot of issues they had at launch. Biggest issue with Fallout 76 is its a pay to advance further type of game, which sucks
