Just need an option to install or remove a game and it will be perfect!
why? really? i mean cant we just have a simple loader with the options? id much rather have a seperate app that installs and all to avoid accidental removal or whatnot...

Hum yeah it would be nice to have an installer and a seperate player but there is no such app yet.

Good concept Knocks. a couple of suggestions:

1. Keep configurability a priority.
2. Instead of loading and saving individual DISCID.TXT files for game settings, consider appending variables to the main config file. e.g. "DISCID = VIDEO,LANGUAGE,OCARINA,LOCKED", where DISCID is the discid of the game, video is the mode that should be forced or DEFAULT, language is the language to be forced or DEFAULT, ocarina is a boolean on/off, and LOCKED prevents deletion through the loader app.

This will reduce amount of files on SD card, reduce fragmentation on SD card, and allow a single read operation on program load to get all settings. optionally, at least for the first release, screw saving of settings and just force users edit the config file on their computer to change settings. if no settings for a specific game are found, assume DEFAULT for video and language, ocarina OFF, and not locked. users should still be able to change these settings on a per-session basis, they just wont stick until they edit their config file.

hey, at least you wont have to port over any code from softchip, so easier yes?

again, im no code whizz, and i havent worked on any wii apps, but i'd be happy to take a look at any source your working on, just PM me. back to being a no body

That's exactly the question I've been pondering: whether to make individual 4-letter saves for each game or one h00g one. Appreciate the feedback and check your PM.

Individual ones would be better if they are stored inside a folder in the folder the boot.dol is in, however if it were installed as a wad, with the file on the root of the SD card I'd rather have one big file.

How hard would it be to make it do multiple and then make another to do the one big file?

Edit: Also, how far are you? I'm liking the GUI and the options since all the other ones you have to hit buttons and theres so many versions and whatnot.

I love this idea! Just made a request in another thread...

I have some kind of request or improvement for the loader...
I mixed many regions on my HDD and they do need different
method to work for me...

so i suggest a ini to store the Startup settings...
like this

RQRJAF.INI

FORCELANG=Japanese
FORCEVID=True
VIDEOMODE=PAL
...

One INI per game or just one big INI...
Just an idea...

If u press A in the loader will try to find the specific ini and boots with the
config from the INI otherwise it will use default settings or so...

QUOTE(Kosaic @ Apr 12 2009, 05:29 PM) Agree ! There MUST be a better solutions for the young kids ... they cannot be expected to remember setting for all of the games on a USB....

I'm still 29... but would like this... i often use NTSC games on my PAL wii and i'm bad in remembering such things...

For the Kids... There could be something like

deletable=false
parentalControl=true
LAUNCHCODE=1+2+A

or something like that... ;)

So u could protect every Game itself...

I could imagine the storage of an alternate "Display Name" a "Short Description" or
the reference to some screenshots for a slideshow as well...

But i would prefer a single "INI/Config" for every Game. It would be better for storage issues.

ISO + Cover + Config + Cheats could be better held together.

And i would prefer the editing stuff i an "external app" --> Coz i imagine some kind of a "parental control"-feature as well.
