My version would take a standard bg image that is compiled into the dol itself if there is no bg.png.

Ah, excellent!

QUOTEAbout the ocarina on and off option, it is doable, but i guess that is no more available button?

What about this button setup?
1 = toggle between standard video / force pal / force ntsc (and have the console display this)
2 = toggle ocarina on and off (and display setting on console)

I could try to do this tonight. I think that would give us another set of background image again.

Some additional notes: My standard background do not have the correct button instruction. I still could not find one with black console background and correct button mapping. Once I got one, I can compile it to my loader.

The loader also have a default noimage.png compiled into the dol too.

Can someone test this Pal Fix?

I cleaned up some code and would like to know if both force PAL and force NTSC work. Hope everything is still working =)

Thanks =)
Unlike the nIxx version, this doesn't automatically run my PAL games to run on an NTSC-only TV. Is it because we always have to select FORCE NTSC with this version?

I am trying to look for the most complete USB Loader dol and I am wondering if I should even switch to this one or not.

Mine, forces NTSC automatically, and its works too! Some of these loaders say they force NTSC but then you'll find yourself looking at a green screen when you try to boot a certain PAL game.

True. But then that setup would have everything. After that, I can't think of more things to map to buttons

Here comes a question: If I own a NTSC tv, what is the benefit of using default video setting instead of force NTSC automatically?

I guess there should be some advantage of using the default video setting? Correct me if I am wrong.

Going twice?

I guess nIxx's version force NTSC automatically for you? correct me if I am wrong
I believe so. I guess I would like that to be my "default" way to boot into everything.

Well I have nIxx's already, but I guess I am trying to work with the new image I made for this dol:

bg-WIIZA.png

I guess I am just trying to see if this version is meant more for the PAL heads, or would it be considered the most complete out of any USB Loader.

Man these loader threads have me loopy.

Thats what I was thinking too. Thats why I created that wad to install and use Sorg's code to get the default video settings instead of having to hit a button to force ntsc!

Your background looks good too! Is it compatible with wiishizzza's background? If not, I can still tune my loader to use yours =)

Btw, I am starting to implement the ocarina on and off option now. Hope I would be able to do that.

Instead of wasting two buttons on PAL and NTSC, we should just compile separate versions for PAL and NTSC users.
Is it so complicated to use two buttons? Come on! Why compiling two versions if you can have all in one?

It's not complicated, it's unnecessary, and it uses two buttons that we could use for something else. Owners of NTSC systems have no need for forcing PAL anyway, and PAL users can have a version that always forces to PAL. We gain 2 precious buttons by compiling separate dols.

hungyip Ocarina toggle on/off sounds awesome if doable. someone mentioned maybe just have an ntsc version and a pal version, with no need to force, sounds like a good idea to me, though it'll mean changing backgrounds again...

Can someone tell me if there is any advantage of using default video settings?

I am currently trying to make button 1 as video option and button 2 as ocarina option.

Yes it is compatible.

This is how my WAD looks as a whole with that menu background:

So will you be working on a dol that defaults to FORCE NTSC? I think it would be a good idea to make PAL and NTSC versions of these dols.

I'm wondering if this has that "SD Fix" that was mentioned on the other string. Here's what they said there:

QUOTE(kedest @ Apr 9 2009, 01:55 PM) *
QUOTE(56killer @ Apr 9 2009, 07:23 PM) *
If someone wants the source code tell me and I will upload it.

yes, please upload it.
and what did you change to make ocarina and the sd work?

Here you go.
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?mzfzmyikene

I change how the loader mounts to sd in usb-loader.c. Also I made the menu.c unmount the sd when a game is selected to boot.
For Ocarina I didn't found the codes when I made the changes. So I made fst.c mount the sd after you chose the game and then unmount if it doesn't find codes or if you select to applied the codes to umount after the codes ha been loaded.

There is no advantage. NTSC machines will load all games with an NTSC flag. Forcing NTSC on an NTSC system is redundant.

Not if you use PAL games on an NTSC console.

If people have quick questions or want to talk about this project, you can go to the IRC channel #LoaderMod on efnet.

Sorry, I misspoke. I meant there is no reason for default video mode on an NTSC system. All games should be forced to NTSC.

P.S. Not that there's a good reason for NTSC users to play PAL games anyway

Okay, here is the modified version.

Now button 1 would toggle the video mode, and button 2 would toggle the ocarina option
button A to launch the game
button B to toggle between language

I don't use ocarina so would like someone to test it for me =)
I only tested the force NTSC option and it seems working.

Fixed Version:

http://sharebee.com/0b05cdce

boot.dol is the normal version

childproof1.dol is the Kid version 1 (without + - function)

childproof2.dol is the Kid version 2 (+ - select language instead of B)

i dunno what you did to the PAL code or what PAL your forcing but if i start HOTD:OVERKILL PAL and use your force PAL the screen flickers like crazy, but if i choose use default which is PAL it works like normal, forcing NTSC has the same effect?

on Noralez V4 this doesnt happen.
