Ok so I think there are a number of reasons that 0 of my USB Loaders have gotten past startup.
1. Does it matter if my usb that i use is an micro sd card adapter that converts it to a usb?
That SHOULD be fine ... but there's always some USB devices out there that do and don't work. If the HBC sees stuff on it it should be fine.
2. What cIOS is most compatible with USB loader? because USB Loader gx says it has to be 249 but the sticky guide says to install 236
The numbers 249 and 236 is not so much what's installed but where it's installed.
That said, what's USUALLY installed in 236 is a cIOS that's useful to install other IOS and cIOS. The guide's probably saying to install that first so the installer can use it to install other stuff. What's compatible or not with a USB Loader would depend on what exactly is installed in 249. The newest final cIOS version (that's not a beta version) is d2x v8 (which is also the most compatible) so install that in 249.
3. What base ios is recommended?
It's recommended to have base 56 in slot 249 and base 57 in slot 250 but you can put more in others in other slots if you want.
Also, I know nothing about patched IOS so is it necessary?
- If you're talking about a patched IOS 36, not necessary anymore but a lot of older homebrew need it and it won't hurt anything. (IOS 236 is actually usually a patched IOS 36 so that you don't HAVE to touch your IOS in slot 36 but some old homebrew doesn't know to look for that)
- If you're talking about a patched System Menu IOS, that's only needed to let you use channels that are not signed so only if you want to do that.
- Also, all the cIOS (the IOS installed over slot 200) are also just patched IOS. Those are necessary only if you want to do USB Loading.
