I've been running into problems trying to get USB Loader Gx to work on my Wii. I have Mario Kart Wii on a 2.0 Usb 32gb but the problem started with the console freezing when loading & the controller shuts off, next I couldn't see the game in my menu but showed channels, also when I clicked on the top menu to change that the option to see Wii games it stayed the same but wouldn't let me change any options I had to unplug the console. I'm still struggling with all that but currently stuck on "initializing usb" screen freezing when loading the loader. Can anyone please help me fix everything necessary so I won't run into any future issues with anything or any game.

It all worked perfect when I first downloaded everything, it's just the game won't play. The screen loaded with the Mario Kart animation and music then black screen and Wii froze.

the flashdrive is maybe not compatible with cIOS.
or you plugged the flash in the wrong USB Port.

USB Port 0, the one you need to use, is located at the bottom (near the edge) on Wii, and at back-top on WiiU.

After I installed the cIOS files the game still popped up in USB Loader but I don't think that's the
problem because my Wii detects theres a USB and I can load files from there the same as my sd card.
I started experiencing other problems when I changed the IOS Loader Slot to 250.
I haven't been able to get back into the loader to try another setting but I'm working on it and posting a system check.
Was it 1. IOS36 2. d2x Cios 3. cIOSX rev20b 4. Install the wad forwarder file for USB Loader GX ?
Then change the IOS Loader Slot to 58 and the IOS Game to 249 or the default?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

The USB is also in the correct port

whoaaa, no wonder it doesn't work fine. You followed a very old hacking method and have old system files.

IOS236 is not needed anymore for any hacks or homebrew.
d2x which version, probably an old one? if you did the hack in that order, you don't even have d2x anymore.
rev20 is EVEN older and the worse of all! (even rev17 was better). Rev20 has wiimote sync issues and probably why it shutdowns when you launch a game!

using 58 is why the loader can list games, but being able to list them in the loader's interface has nothing to do with launching them and compatibility.

you need to install d2x v8 final base 57 in slot 249 to fix everything. (except that Flash drives are still not recommended, even by nintendo themselves!)

I tried to install d2x v8 base 57 slot 249 and it isn't working still which is strange cause I previously had it installed.
Mario Kart Wii launched before but froze, theres gotta be some other way to fix it but I can't get into the
USB Loader app to change the IOS Loader Slot. Is a wii capable of running a game off a usb stick? I'm really trying to get
the loader to play games so I don't keep going in circles.

Flashdrives often (usually) have problem with the Wii and WiiU, but reading from it should work.
what's not working is either the drive is not recognized at all, or you can't write to it (you can't dump a disc to the usb for example).

if your flash is detected, and the game launches and is working (even a little) it shouldn't be the flash drive's fault.
But, maybe, you are the first one with a faulty flash drive which stop working half way though the game?

Try another flash drive, or better try a real external hard drive.
another possibility is : the problem is your game ISO. verify it's integrity with WiiBackupManager > option > Sha1. if it ends green the game is good. red, it's bad.

I had all kinds of issues with a flash drive, I replaced it with a true HDD and have not looked back.

You can get a 160Gb HDD and enclosure for less than £20 off of Amazon...
