I looked in the OP and did a search but what exactly do I need to get NEEK set up? Just build the kernel from ModMii? I'm tired of Flowerworks crashing in the middle of a game. :D
I wrote up a guide a few posts back. Check it out and see if it works for you.

However I'm not sure if ModMii will automatically download the needed files anymore. I think Google Code has shut down by now which ModMii relies on to get the files.

I've never set it up for SNEEK but I guess just select the option for SNEEK+DI and then transfer the contents of COPY_TO_SD to you SD card. I think it should work but like I said I've never tried it.

I'm trying it with the one game I can never get to load except from real NAND or SD backup - Liight. USB Loader GX complained that SD paths weren't supported for NEEK then booted the game anyway. Gets a lot farther than EmuNAND but still crashes. :(

What game and how far into the game does it freeze? If it doesn't take long for the game to freeze for you I can try it on my Wii when I get home and see if I can get it to freeze in the same spot.

It's Liight. It barely worked when I bought it. It likes to freeze when it's done loading a lot of times. Either it gets a black screen immediately or never finishes after the loading "glyph" is complete.

Hi @GreyWolf , hows it going? Have you worked on you GCN tool?
Well, regarding your question. Do you have a Wii or WiiU?

Wii, and yes... working on UI this week. :)
Oh, then you have it easy.
Just dump your nand with ULGX, "compile" neek2o with modmii (if still possible, if not let me know and I"ll send you a pre compiled sneek folder)
Drop the SNEEK folder on the root of your hdd.
Inside of the loader, go to "loader options" and chenge emunand from "full" to "neek".
Thats it

I did that. I wanted to use SD instead of USB, though. It seems to work ok from HDD so far except for that one stupid game. I'll probably try the SD one I built first again tomorrow and see how it works with other titles. I remember Cyan said something about issues with SD but we'll see. :P

So the game (liights, I believe?) Doesnt work in either SD or HDD? Thats weird... Maybe that game is the 0.1% that isnt compatible with sneek?
Maybe the wad is corrupted?

No, it's just a piece of crap. :) I bought it from the Wii Shop and it locks up when loading from NAND and when copied to SD sometimes, too. I think it uses pretty much every bit of the Wii's memory and it freezes when decompressing assets sometimes.

I see. So the game is buggy even when ran from real nand, store bought. Etc.
I dont think sneek would help in this case :D

So, got the loader working and all (vWii), but the only thing I'm wondering is what format I need to use if I want to use custom background music?

i finally managed to get on the Wii homebrew scene the other day and have emulators working flawlessly...this Wii loader is being a bastard though...
followed some instructions a buddy gave me but when i go to load a game it just kicks back to the homebrew screen.

i ran a SysCheck so not sure if anyone minds giving that a look?

Well, you have no cIOS installed. So there's that.
You need to install at least cIOS 249 (base 57).
I don't know if ModMii still works? (you could try) that would be your best bet. Otherwise you'll need to search for a softmod guide.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

i think only the red mario kart edition phat was v5

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
