I agree with you too, about outdated stuff, but it's not like it's not working at all. There's always a way to boot the game.
Though, it would be nice to have more choices and be up to date with cIOS revisions.

For me usbloadergx has the greatest GUI. I hope development and bugfixing will continue some time.

I completely agree.

I would love to continue using USB Loader GX, but after I switched my HD from WBFS to NTFS, all games start with a black or black-green screen. Till now I haven't figured out or found a solution. I'd appreciate any bugfix, CFG Loader seems so ugly and "complicated"...

my friend have wii and every time we try to use usb loader gx channel it shows black screen and just stayed like that
how can i fix it?
wii system 4.0U

@DukeDizko : did you try wiiflow ? I never tried cfg loader, so I don't know how it looks like compared to wiiflow and GX, but Wiiflow looked fine when I tested it.

@The-falcon :
You didn't provide enough informations regarding your wii internal hacking state (on both your topic, and here).
We can't help you if we don't know what's wrong.
I suggest you first read and study how to mod a Wii (there's a lot of tutorial), and understand the internal Wii structure, and which IOS version/slot/patch/hack you have and which one you need.

if you already know what you are doing, know that USBloaderGX needs older versions of hacks, don't use newer cIOS :
USBloaderGX works best with loader revision 883, using WBFS partition+cIOSrev17, or using FAT32 parition+Hermes cIOSv4

Thanks Cyan, I'm actually trying Wiiflow, although I'd love to know why GX isn't working anymore. It shows all .wbfs games on the NTFS-partition, but when I start one, the black screen comes up. When I change the LoadIOS, GX tells me, that it only works with Hermes cIOS 4. I'm not quite sure, but I think I have no Hermes-"stuff" installed, and (got to look that up again, too) a cIOS rev19. Would a syscheck help to discover my problem? I'm on 4.1 Pal and everything worked like a charm when it was WBFS-formatted. CFG starts the games, though. But as I said, I want my GX...

It's working fine with other loaders, because they updated their code to use NTFS module from cIOSx, and with your cIOSx rev19 it's working. (though, I think you should use rev20 if you want to keep a cIOSx)

GX is (was) not compatible with NTFS partition.
for partition other than WBFS (so for FAT32) it asked for Hermes v4.

Then, Hermes release v5 which worked with NTFS, then Waninkoko released cIOSx which has FAT32/NTFS support too.
So, to follow the new cIOSes, they started to include NTFS support from r867 up to 930, but as it wasn't very stable, and it created conflict with other games (prince of persia), the developers removed the support for both Hermes V5, and cIOSx NTFS partitions. it should still ask for hermes v4 as it was the better one (or maybe the sentence was never updated to say "v5").

If you still want to use NTFS with GX, you can try a revision range from 923 to 930, they might be the better one and most stable to try.

I can't guarantee you that it will work fine. I didn't try NTFS myself, but there's report from other users that it's working.
Let me know your configuration, maybe it could help other users too.

Wow, I thought NTFS was standard within newer versions. I hope by config you mean (4.1E):

Honestly, I don't get too much out of it and t seems to have nothing about the cIOS in it. Although I managed to hack the Wii completely by myself, according to guides, I still have nearly no clue about IOS, cIOS and their differences etc. I'm Thanks in advance!!!

Edit: Dude, r930 works!!! Wow, thanks a LOT! PoP Sands doesn't get behind the logos anymore (black screen before Start) but I guess I have to set the loading options to another IOS, 222 or something. Thanks again, I somehow knew it was possible. That saved sooo much time...

I meant, after you tried NTFS with a usbloaderGX revision from 923-930, and if it worked successfully, report the cIOS you used and which GX revision you used.
For the cIOS : you report shows that you indeed have cIOSx rev19 on slot 249 and 250. You also have 2 Hermes cIOS v5 on slot 222 and 223. That's the only information and IOS needed to run backup loaders.
so, just report back your loader revision if NTFS works, and which "IOS" you have in the "game loading" preferences menu.
Edit : Thanks for the report, 930 is working with NTFS then.
Could you try 935 for me too ? it seems NTFS support is not removed completely.

Edit 2: For prince of Persia, you need either the revision 935, or a patched dol to load using alt dol method (but not using a GX revision with "return to loader" patch, so before 921).
To patch the dol manually : extract the dol from the game using wiiscrubber or trucha signer, patch the dol, put it in you SD/USB "dol path" defined in GX preferences. Go to PoP preferences, and says to use alternative dol loading method "from SD/USB".

For Pop, if 935 is not working with NTFS, your best choice is to use another loader.

Well, yes, r930 works (on 249), 935 freezes again. So I guess I'll stick with the alt. dol method. Would it work if I change the iso (so that I don't need the alt dol)? And are there any other (game) issues with 930 except PoP (as far as you know)? Thanks for your time!

I'm running USB Loader GX (r935) on CIOS rev10 (yes 10) and Hermes 222/223 on V4. There isn't one game I can't play with that mixture. Dual Layer games, no problem. Ripped my copy of SSBB using REV10 no problem. POP, plays straight away. Metroid Another M likewise no problem straight out the box. USB Loader GX is still the best and most asthetically pleasing loader of them all, IMO.

Yes, it will work fine.
There's no other game issues with 930 at my knowledge. my only concern is that I don't know the NTFS stability. I can't guarantee you that it will works fine all the time.

About Metroid, it's strange that it's freezing. are you using the good dump ?
you can check Wiipower's topic about Metroid freezing, there are a lot of loader/version/partition/IOS combinations, with their working state.
Dexter, in this post, says that Metroid is working fine, on NTFS, using USBloaderGX 899, and Hermes v4. (v4 works with ntfs ? I thought it needed v5)

Current NTFS status in GX is (was, as it's now removed if you use latest release) corrupting the NTFS partition.
I think you better use another loader if you want to keep ntfs. or else, go back at least to fat32 if you want to keep your drive readable on a computer.

I'm getting a black screen freeze when going back to loader. Anyone have an idea why this is happening? HBC 1.0.8, rev938, wbfs, default load cios222.

It's because you installed a newer HBC which didn't exist when the loader was released.
the loader can't load what it doesn't know, and can't foresee the future HBC names

When I try to format my FAT partition to WBFS in USB Loader GX, the screen goes black with a code dump.

I'm using the latest version.
Any help?

Use WBFS Manager 3.0 on your computer to format it for you

Well, I'm using a Mac. :/

EDIT: Nevermind, I fixed it.
