When LoaderGX will be able to show the opening.bnr? If he can read the music and play-it, why not the "video" inside?
They are busy with FAT support
Its almost done though

And they started on SD card loading as well

GX already has the code to load banners, but maybe it just uses too much memory or something

because the USB ports don't work in Gamecube mode.

if you're using GX, why do you want to load games with the system menu?

2 things i would like pls:
a special button just for mii channel
easier loading of wiiware/VC games (some sort of integration into the carousel).

does gx have a fix for nsmb yet

Yes. Update to build 822 or higher, turn on 002 patch... and the unpatched version will work (on PAL at least, you may have to tweak video modes if you are an ntsc user).

QUOTE(Kazoo52 @ Nov 13 2009, 12:09 PM) what about an SDloader for gamecube games??

Not going to happen - In gamecube mode, any hardware the Gamecube didn't have is disabled.

I can't wait! I actually have yet to start storing games on a USB hard drive. I might just have to pick up the Western Digital Passport 500 GB on Black Friday. I read it's going for $60-$70.

What is the advantage of GX for loading games from a FAT (or FAT32??) partition?
- Will the games be smaller (or larger because the iso file are always 4 Gb)?

I am using WBFS to put the games on the disc, just works perfect.

In the latest builds, it plays the audio from the banner before you launch the game...

My understanding is that opening.bnr is the banner - ie, what you see in the disc channel.

It may well be the same error - if it can't load the banner or the game... and it just isn't trying to load the banner in older builds.

Another possibility for the black screens is a video mdoe issue - are you trying to run games which are from another region?

You made a good point. Not only did I notice the "Failure to extract opening.bnr" error disappear after downgrading revisions, I also noticed the banner music go away as well. Based on that alone, It sounds like its the same issue/solution.

As for the black screen issue, I cannot seem to figure out why I have this problem. I have tested an NTSC game on a NTSC console and still get the black screen. I do not know if this helps any but I have had black screens in the past on disk loaders to where I could not see anything but I could hear the audio as I waited such as intro music, ect but I am testing this with Super Paper Mario which I know has compatibility with the USB Loader GX and know that being that its NTSC on my NTSC system, It should work but I still get that black screen as if nothing has even happened/loaded.

I wonder if my Wii's component cables have any effect on the black screen problem.

After doing more research from various forums, I finally figured out that despite the fact that my flash drive was supported in the compatibility list, I needed to use a different flash drive to get the games to work that were previously not loading and giving me black screens.
After switching drives, All of the games that gave me problems despite being in the same region as my console, finally work and play with no problems.

Hope this solution helps anyone that may run into the same problem down the road.
Thanks again SenorClean for the help on the .bnr issue.

Victory.

I watched the video review, but I couldn't figure out how to install games...
Do you need to have the disc in the wii to install, or can you have the game on your USB and install it that way? If so, what is the path needed? Any help is appreciated.

Installing is the processing of ripping the disc onto the usb. What happens when you hit the install button?

I'm not convinced, the register that controls enabling access to hardware is known.

It's potentially just hard and nobody cares.

Game size is about the same. The main advantages are:
1. WBFS Manager isn't a necessity. .wbfs can be dragged and dropped onto your hard drive.
2. No need for partitioning. Games, HBC and apps, downloaded cases and disc pictures, etc. can be all on the same formated single partition. In the end you won't have wasted space because of unusable WBFS or an oversized FAT.

More about this is discussed in the FAT VS WBFS thread.
