Is it available a repository with the recommended settings for games that require them?
Did you perform a fresh install of the loader, so that no old settings were carried over? Since a lot of time old settings can cause problems.

The loader should play everything by default, assuming you've upgraded things like the cIOS correctly.

If you've got old d2x cIOS versions installed into other slots, like ecto did the other day, then that can also cause issues.

yes, as you replied to my post (pag. 1490) at pag. 1491, i made a fresh install. I delete all the files, i keep only "Images" folder
https://postimg.cc/CBM8jr0X

I followed the guide (https://wii.hacks.guide/cios.html?tab=cios-for-vwii-(wii-u)) and i downloaded the cios. CIOS 248 was missing, But CIOS 249, 250 and 251 were already present and i overwriote them succesfully. Is it better to delete all the CIOS and download them again? If so, how i can delete the previous CIOS 249, 250 and 251 before to re-install them?

In the old USB loaded GX version, i remember that i had to do specific settings for some games:

Klonoa: VDTV patch = ON --> it doesn't work on the new USB loader
Super Mario Galaxy: language = English --> --> i set these setting to the new USB Loader and the game works. I don't know if it works without these settings...
Super MArio All Star: VDTV patch = ON and Video Mode = Disc Default --> i set these setting to the new USB Loader and the game works. I don't know if it works without these settings...
Resident Evil 4: it didn't work, but now it perfectly work

I'm trying all my Wii games, until now only Klonoa and Mario Kart Wii have issues..

thanks!

Hey Is there a wiki that explains all the settings? I found an old one but it doesnt have many settings or lists it but doesnt explain what it does. Would appreciate a compilation of setting explanations. Especially for loader settings. :)

I was able to get into USB Loader GX without plugging in the HDD. Then, I initialized the HDD through the settings in version 1281 and it worked. But I had to redo the process every time I wanted to launch the loader. However, after updating to v1283, that method no longer works... Do you have any idea on this?

By the way, which enclosure are you using? I've ordered an Orico 2139U3, but I'm still skeptical about the auto-sleep feature.
Im using this enclosure i have modded like 10 wii consoles and this is the enclosure i use never fails. https://www.ebay.com/itm/275939372011

That's going to be a problem, since the crash happens in libogc, with nothing tracing back to the loader.

Do you have any custom Wii games on your drive? If you do then I'd start by removing them to see if it fixes the issue.

If that doesn't work, I'd suggest renaming your current wbfs folder, then creating a new one, moving a few games over at a time and then trying the loader. And if you do it in alphabetical order, it will be easier to roll back changes once the crashes start again.

I renamed my "wbfs" folder to "wbfs-backup" and created a new "wbfs" folder. Then, I moved around 10 games at a time, from the "wbfs-backup" to the new "wbfs" folder until all of them were back and... It just works now? Maybe something got corrupted in the old folder, I don't know.

Anyway, thanks a lot for your help! :)

Please post a SysCheck.
ok, i tried the games like Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario All star and Mad World without any patch/specific settings and they perfectly work. I finished to test all my Wii games and they perfectly work, so the problem is related to Klonoa and Mario Kart Wii only.

I ran the syscheck and it was completed without any issue, perfectly.

Here is my SysCheck:

While softmods could be improved according to your syscheck, there's no problems that would lead to this issue

For example, you could install hbc v1.1.3 or v1.1.4, priiloader, a patched vIOS80 (to be able to play fakesigned content moved to the sd card menu), vIOS61 (for photo channel 1.1 support when also combined with and the HAZA stub), but none of these enhancements would impact usb loading

Trying to save in-game pictures in Animal Crossing: City Folk and it doesn't appear to be recognizing I have a SD Card inserted when I go to save the photos. I’m loading through USBLoaderGX with a 2gb formatted to FAT 32.

Can games not recognize SD Cards if you load your games from them?

I'm after some help if anyone has a solution, A bit of a weird one and I'm puzzled, I had put my WII away for a year or more, I was on an older version of USBLoaderGX from 2017 (datecode of the files) and it boots in fine and I can play games etc, I tried to upgrade to the latest USBloaderGX by overwriting the files and now it won't boot and locks up when it gets to Loading Resources.

I copy the old version back overtop and it works fine again.

I tried various newer versions and some do better, the second latest build on github gets past loading resources but locks up when it gets into the loader with the typical blue background screen with no text.
I've entirely removed the old version and copied on the new one, same problem. I vaguely remember this problem when I previously used my Wii, I was unable to upgrade USBloader versions, ended up just putting it away and not using it.

Really not sure what's wrong, I've ran modmii and updated my Ios's hoping that would be it but it didn't. I can't even run the latest USBloaderGX with my hdd unplugged in Sdcard mode, still locks up at the loading resources.

The other odd issues is if I run a syscheck with the latest modmii tool it all works fine, I can read it on the screen but it doesn't save to the Sdcard in the root like I believe its expected to.

Could it be to do with some old cios versions I've got installed in different slots? I installed the new ones modmii told me to install off the old csv file that was there for a previous modmii install, I couldn't create a new syscheck.csv as it doesn't appear to save, I read read it on the screen but it doesn't store it on my SDcard. I told it to upload my CSV and it did that, not sure where it uploads to? .

So I installed these dv2 updates by using the old syscheck.csv, its saying I can remove the stubs below, I haven't tried that yet but worth doing?
  1. cIOS249[56]-d2x-v11-beta3
  2. cIOS250[57]-d2x-v11-beta3
  3. cIOS251[58]-d2x-v11-beta3

You have some extra IOSs installed on your console that are unnecessary. Optionally recover some space by navigating to the WAD/STUBS folder and repeating the steps above to install the 10 stub IOS WADs below. Ignore this for any slots you intentionally installed

  1. STUB-IOS3-64-v404
  2. STUB-IOS4-64-v404
  3. STUB-IOS10-64-v404
  4. STUB-IOS16-64-v404
  5. STUB-IOS51-64-v404
  6. STUB-IOS202-64-v404
  7. STUB-IOS222-64-v404
  8. STUB-IOS223-64-v404
  9. STUB-IOS224-64-v404
  10. STUB-IOS236-64-v404

Thanks in advance.

Hi tried again, now Mario kart Wii perfectly works! Probably there was an error: i coded the USA version using the Title ID of the Europeran version! Now i fixed this and both USA and EUR version perfectly works.
I tried the PAL version using the "Force PAL 60" patch and it seems that the game runs fine. Do you think that i can keep the PAL version with this patch applied or is it better to play the USA version that runs at 60hx by default?

So, now, KLONOA USA only does't work. When i press START game, it appears a black screen and the console freezes: i have to remove the power...
I tried the PAL version with Force PAL 60 patch activated and it works perfectly (it works even without PAL 60 patch, of course).
So i will keep the PAL version. Do you think that it is ok to run the PAL game with Force 60 activated? Is this a good patch? Or does it create issues?

thanks

I resolved my issue, I just started a new SDcard fresh and it all went well, something odd wrong with my original SDCard or the install that I upgraded on it.

Just out of interest, what do you mean by "I coded"? Do you mean renamed? If so why don't you use Wii Backup Manager?

It is a bit hard to read the thread finding out what's new with all personal setups and quirks. In short the common mistake is using old setups:
  • Not using a fresh install; this includes upgrading without removing the previous files, using an old Emunand instead newly built one
  • Not using the 3 preferred d2x-v11-beta3 cIOS's and or keeping older cIOS including Hermes in other slots
  • Not updating or using the latest UNEO forwarder
I think blackb0x really developed a very solid version of USB Loader playing almost every game without the need for manual adjustments. But coming from older setups prevents getting the maximum out of it.

thanks, yes i mean that i renamed it :)

in the end, all my games perfectly work. Only the USA version of Klonoa doesn't work, i don't know why, i made a fresh install. And cIOS installation is ok... in any case, the PAL version works, i set Force PAL 60 and that's fine for me :)

thank you for your help!

Everything was looking so good. I've updated everything and I was surprised to see that even Castlevania is working. However, I noticed Art Style Cubello wasn't working and after testing, it looks like none of the Art Style games are working anymore—and I definitely played some of them before. Now they all go to the black screen.

I even tried removing USB Loader GX and the emuNAND from my SD card, reinstalling everything, dumping a new emunand, and still nothing.

I also deleted the WAD from the USB it was on, transferred a fresh backup, and tested on the real nand (it did work there)

I tried changing some of the setting as well.

What could be causing the Art Style games to go to the black screen? Absolutely everything else seems to work.

I sent you a private message.

The issue seems to occur because I removed a line of code to fix a problem for some other games and channels, but these particular games seem to rely on it.

Once I've got a fix in place, I'll shoot you a message.

FWIW, Klonoa NTSCU seems to work fine for me on the default settings

hi, ive been playing the wii everyday for the past 2 months every single day because of exerbeat!

ive had absolutely no issues so far and it worked like a dream. the only time anything happened was the a few weeks ago when it updated and even then after preforming the update correctly, absolutely no issues.

i turned it on today to do my dailies and it stays on a black screen. it doesnt go back to the wii menu like it did when it needed an update.

Do you mean the loader itself stays on a black screen, or when you boot a game it stays on a black screen?

If the loader gets stuck on a black screen, delete everything inside the apps/usbloader_gx folder except for the images folder, then reinstall the app.

If it's the game that gets stuck and you're using a Windows PC, run chkdsk /f x:, replacing x: with your drives letter. Then, delete and reinstall the game.

Hi there, thanks again for all the amazing work.

I'm updating some of my rom/emulator forwarders. since they are custom, the app or gameTDB won't have cover art for them. is there a setting to pull it from the wad file? If not, is there a template I can use to create them and manually add them to the images folder?
