Looks like th 5tb model in those posts. I have used 5tb model in past, ill check the model, the biggest issue is they suck at everything because they use smr. The one i linked is cmr. Also never used the wd formatter, whatever the modmii downloads does the job just fine.
In that thread, yeah. But over the years there's been others mentioned throughout the forum.

Drives that only use 4Kn won't work no matter how you configure them. And there are also reports of drives failing to work when going beyond 2TB, although most people fail to mention whether their drive uses 512e or 4Kn, or what cluster size they set when formatting.

But to be clear, I'm not saying people can't use large hard drives right now. I'm just saying it's not reliable or future-proof, since we already know the loader doesn't use 64-bit addressing for storage. And personally, I don't like that the recommended drives seem to mainly be limited to WD because of reports that other drives don't work as reliably.

Is this issue still relevant? Has compatibility with EmuNand saves improved in the latest versions of the loader and d2x-v11? Are there any estimates of how many games cannot be saved to EmuNand? Maybe it's just a couple of very rare games and that's it?
I haven't personally retested that, but someone told me that it seems to have improved since I released d2x-v11-beta3 and USB Loader GX r1283.

When you boot most games, they'll create an initial save. When that happens, exit to the system menu and check if you see a save file for that game. If you don't, then it was saved to the EmuNAND.

no, I got a black screen. I'll try to format again, its NTFS. the weird its because both folders have the same issue. games (605 game cube games) and wbfs (1274 wii games)
How large is your USB HDD?

I wouldn't recommend using NTFS, since support for that will be removed in the next update.

You'll add exfat for large hard drive? In the future I wanna add European and Japanese games. And problem it's takes 5tb

For large drive what format you recommend? I wanna use one hdd for wii and game cube, but wii probably takes 5tb. The ideia it's have 2 partition, 5tb for wii and 2tb for game cube to have all games

What's the exact model of the HDD you're using? For example, the 5TB WD My Passport (WDBPKJ0050BBK).

Can you input the following from a PC (replace X with your drive letter) and then share what it says?
Code:
fsutil fsinfo sectorinfo X:

Yeah. I've mentioned it before, but I'm removing NTFS support and adding exFAT support. However, this alone won't make your hard drive function at it's full capacity if you can't get 512-byte emulation to work.

If you read through my last few posts you'll see that you've got a prime example of a problem that I'd like to solve. But I can't fix the problem if I don't own the hardware, which is why I set a goal on my Ko-fi page.

I was afraid to enable this setting to avoid situations where the game would not be able to save and I would have to disable it again. So, if EmuNAND Save Mode is set to Partial, for example, and a game cannot save to EmuNAND, the loader will automatically and guaranteed switch to saving to NAND?

FAT32 limts goes to 16tb on drives with 4k sectors, that will be every drive above 2.3tb.

When saving to an EmuNAND fails, the cIOS will automatically try to save to the NAND instead. However, some games might say they failed to create the initial save, so if that happens, you should go into the games settings and exclude it from using EmuNAND saves.

Okay, but you didn't share the output from the command.

If that doesn't work then you could try using the WD Quick Formatter. If your drives compatible then you might be able to change the configuation to XP Compatible before formatting it. Then you can use Rufus with the following settings to make a large FAT32 partition.

5TB or larger drives should set the cluster size to 64 kilobytes instead.

thanks a lot, I format my 4TB with FAT32 (my old guiformat32 say limit is 2tb thats why I had the problem) and now I have wbfs and games folders running perfect!!!!

Hello, I'm having a strange problem since the latest version.
The loader won't load some games after their first launch, even after power cycling the console, it brings me to the Wii Menu after some seconds when I click on Start; if I delete the TitlesCache.bin file the games launch just once before they won't.
Maybe is it a bug? With version r1281 I don't have the problem, I'm using a USB NTFS Hard Drive.
Thanks in advance!

What did you use to achieve this? I've been wanting to use a 6TB drive to hold a nice library of multiple systems on 1 drive, but I've ran into the issue of exceeding FAT32 limit of 2TB. Do I need to create 3 partitions for this or is it possible to with some other software I haven't tried? Guiformat and Rufus won't do it. Any ideas?

hey buddy
you can use just one partition for that

1-download
http://ridgecrop.co.uk/guiformat-x64.Exe

2-format using fat32 and 64k

3-for wii use wbfs folder and game cube "games" folder

it will work for you too, and also the last version for usb loadewr

It'd also be good if you could tell me your hard drive model, because if the goal on my Ko-fi is met, then I'll need to purchase a drive that doesn't function at its full capacity when it's configured for modern systems.

This is what I'm getting when trying to format the 6TB drive.

Have you tried to use WD Quick Formatter to set the configuration to XP Compatible? Then in Rufus you'd want the partition scheme set to MBR and the cluster size set to 64 kilobytes (because it's a 6TB HDD).

If using WD Quick Formatter and Rufus doesn't work then can you confirm if creating a 1.8TB FAT32 partition works? You could use Minitool Partition Wizard, EaseUS Partition Master, GParted etc.

Awesome the WD quick formatted actually worked for me. Had to do Xp compatible and it put the entire drive as MBR, only then was I able to format im FAT32 @ 64kb with guiformat. Adding some games to test it out now.

Nice! You're lucky that you've got a WD drive and that it's compatible with the software. But this is a good example as to why I want to fix things for those who aren't so lucky or just want to use the drive with it's default configuration.

Some manufacturers don't provide any software to change these settings, and if they do, it's often limited to a specific operating system. Additionally, some WD drives are already unsupported by WD's own software. So, it's reasonable to expect compatibility to decline over time as support for older hardware becomes less of a priority.
