So, this gets past the issue of the freezing, but now it's just a black screen. I press the button to start the game, it goes black. It's best to formate to fat32 it will work for both Wii and GC games wbfs corrupts after awhile and NTFS is buggy.
Use wiibackup manager to formate for drives bigger than 32 GB and to transfer Wii games larger than 4gb. And you can use wit GameCube manager to do GameCube games if you have a large collection .
The best way to test a usb drive is formate to fat32 then boot usbloader with it usb plugged in (port closest to the edge) if it hangs looking for a hdd then your USB is questionable if not then proceed to transfer your games
GC go in a folder called games then in a folder with its game title and game id if you want to download boxart, the iso should be called game.iso and if two disc the second iso is called disc2.iso
Wii games go into a folder called wbfs and can be iso or .wbfs
I got a good video setting up a Wii with a 2tb HDD and games
YouTube Justin case Wii and yiu can watch the whole process

edit: I checked the ISO that I made into the WBFS and have confirmed that it works. Dolphin can read it. The problem is definitely not the ISO.
It's the same region and in the right port. I tried to dump Brawl earlier and the console crashed. I press the "Install a Game" button in USB Loader GX, it opens a progress bar, jumps to 100% and freezes the console.Make sure your plugged into the usb port closest to the Wii edge.
If your playing out of region games you may need to go into loader settings --> display settings --> then force pal or NTSC depending your region .. north America is NTSC.
Try dumping a Wii game if you have one.

I "will" crash/freeze because he uses an USB Stick....Make sure your plugged into the usb port closest to the Wii edge.

I'm trying to launch Xenoblade Chronicles. I have the file, it runs in Dolphin (but I can't run Dolphin above 10fps), and I wouldn't think the wii motion plus would be needed in that game. Some games I recall require to see the Waring screen of the Wii motion plus to work before they will boot.
I did a work around of using wiiflow to the game first launch (Zelda) first which allowed for the Waring to play which usbloader didn't. You only need the Waring to play once then usbloader should work. (really recommend wiiflow as a loader with rhapsodii Shima theme btw)
What game are you trying to launch.

Try... wiiflow...It's the same region and in the right port. I tried to dump Brawl earlier and the console crashed. I press the "Install a Game" button in USB Loader GX, it opens a progress bar, jumps to 100% and freezes the console.
I tried on the SD earlier to see if it was the USB. It didn't work, to no one's surprise. I'll try Wiiflow after I retry it on the SD. If that doesn't work, then my Wii is just going to stay as a GameCube with buffer specs.Try... wiiflow...
if the Wii is able to dump and your able to see the game it's less likely it's your usb but it still could be tho.
But I've found a few games that launch from wiiflow and not usbloadergx.
What game are you launching?
You can try launching the game from your sdcard too to see. Transfer the same way with Wii backupmanger from your computer.

When you try on the sd make sure usbloader is looking at sd for Wii games. Sometimes it sticks to its last setting which would be usb.I tried on the SD earlier to see if it was the USB. How exactly would I set that? I looked through the settings and all the things I could find were about GC.When you try on the sd make sure usbloader is looking at sd for Wii games. Sometimes it sticks to its last setting which would be usb.

If I do that, it never loads. It gets stuck on "Loading USB into Port 1". I tried, believe me.Can't remember off hand. Don't have a usb plugged in on launching usbloader

I got it to work, but there are new problems. I edited the last reply. It should only look for 30 secs then boot to usbloader. Do you see a timer and countdown on a black background.

Alright. If it doesn't work I'll be very sad.Wii flow is your last bet

THANK YOU WHATEVER LORD EXISTS. Wiiflow works for Wii backups. It'd be nice to use it for GC, too, so if you know how please feel free to share, but I'll settle with just Wii working.Ya lol I've lost a few inches on my hair line over wiis over the years
