I first became suspicious that USB Loader GX might be ripping Dual Layer games incorrectly when I tried ripping Metroid Prime Trilogy. This thread explains that issue in more detail.
I thought that maybe this was a game specific issue because it seemed that quite a few people were having problems with Metroid Prime Trilogy. Well apparently it's happening with other Dual Layer games as well.
I just re-ripped Metroid: Other M, this time using CleanRip, then converted the ISO to .wbfs with Wii Backup Manager, and the file size is larger than the rip I made a week ago.
When using USB Loader GX these were the file sizes I received for both games...
-Metroid: Other M = 7.26GB
-Metroid Prime: Trilogy = 7.44GB
When using CleanRip these were the file sizes I received...
-Metroid: Other M = 7.92GB
-Metroid Prime: Trilogy = 7.92GB
After converting with Wii Backup Manger these were the file sizes I received...
-Metroid: Other M ≈ 7.44GB
-Metroid Prime: Trilogy ≈ 7.60GB
I'm not sure why this is happening, but it seems like there might be an issue with the cIOS that USB Loader GX uses to rip games, more specifically the dual layer games. It could be that I'm the only one experiencing this issue, if that's the case I don't know what's causing it.
Figured I'd post this as a heads up.
EDIT: Updated info is in BOLD.
