Hello everyone. I have recently soft modded my Wii with homebrew and I'm trying to load my Wii games from my USB drive to USB Loader GX. I downloaded WBFS game files from the internet and put them on my Sandisk 64gb flash drive formatted to FAT32. I used Wii Backup Manager to transfer my game files to my flash drive and it made the WBFS folder too. When I plug the USB into the wii and load USB Loader GX and try to start one of the games (Games I have tried: Super Mario Galaxy 2, Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympic Games, Animal Crossing New Folk, Wii Play and more), it just gives me a black screen and doesn't load. I have a 64 gb flash drive and a 64 gb sd card both formatted to FAT32, Please Help me Btw Im new to this platform and don't usually post online, sorry if I do anything wrong. Here is my SysCheck

Small thumb drives have poor compatibility, but can sometimes we improved if formatted as wbfs (use wii backup manager) instead of fat32. Obviously u forgo many of the benefits of fat32 and the wbfs partition can only store wii games, but it may get it working for u.

Alternatively save your games to sd, and use a loader that supports sd (Wiiflow lite, configurable USB loader). Future gx updates should support sd loading, but currently not yet available.

Hello.:)

According to your Explanations, you have used the WiiBackup Manager,so it seems, the Games were transferred correctly.👌

Your USB Device (Stick) is connected to Port 0 ?

796910IMGP4810.jpg

Your sysCheck is "ok" but you maybe should change:

IOS249[57] (rev 65535, Info: d2x-v10beta52): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
IOS250[56] (rev 65535, Info: d2x-v10beta52): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0

to

IOS249[56] (rev 65535, Info: d2x-v10beta52): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
IOS250[57] (rev 65535, Info: d2x-v10beta52): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0

and try it please.

Or you can try first to change the Game´s IOS in the Global Settings - Loader Settings.
Use 250 instead of -1 please.

Also check if your USBLoader / System Language (Canadian uses French maybe ?) is set to to the same Language, preferable to English, because not all Games have French Language included,so it results often in a Black Screen.

Thank you.😉

How do I format my flash drive to WBFS. Do I do it through the Wii Backup Manager?

Yes, my flash drive is in the bottom or right port (or port 0 as you have in the picture). And, how do I change the IOS things through cIOS. I'm sorry, I'm really bad and new at Wii softmodding, I just want to play the games I used to play! My Wii system language is english, but the country is Canada (where I live)

Did you previously manage to format the drive as WBFS? If so, it will only be readable by tools like wiibackup manager on PC or usbloaders on the Wii. That being said, iirc when u plug a wbfs formatted drive into your PC it should popup asking you to format it. If it isn’t doing that, then it’s not a good sign. You can try a few different things. You can try seeing if you can access the drive and format it to FAT32 or whatever via wiibackup manager. You can try accessing it and formatting it via windows’ built in disk management, and if that doesn’t work try installing the free version of Easeus partition manager and trying the same thing. You could try running a chkdsk on your hdd, assuming it’s being detected by windows to do so (done via cmd line, very easy, google for it). Lastly, you could try a different PC all together and hope for different results. If none of that works, you will probably need to find a replacement (unless someone else posts with additional things to try first). Good luck!

So, I used another USB drive to use with Wii Backup Manager. It created a WBFS folder and I transferred my WBFS file for Super Mario Galaxy 2 into it, plugged it into my Wii. Still the same problem. I'm sorry to ask, but it seems like you know a lot about this, is there any way you (or anyone who is very experienced with this) could hop into a discord call or something with me? I'm just really trying to get this done and fixed to play with friends.

I have been testing a FAT32-formatted SanDisk Ultra Fit 256GB flash drive (which runs games perfectly on an X360), possibly similar to yours, and I sometimes get random black screens when loading games on Wii. If a game ends up loading it can still sometimes freeze during disc reads. Generally highly unstable. After switching back to a WD Elements HDD, I'm no longer having these issues.

My conclusion is that USB loaders such as USB Loader GX and Nintendont cannot handle flash drives properly and that you must use a hard drive instead.

Maybe changing the Video Mode (Force NTSC480p) can help.
Hello again, I have been trying to fix my Wii still. I've been following this tutorial I installed Multi-Mod Manager, went into the wads folder in Multi-Mod Manager. Tried to install the files to fix USB Loader GX, and it said it couldn't be installed. (Error -2011) I tried WiiFlow Lite too, the same issue. Can someone just get in a discord call or something and help? I'm clearly useless...

Follow this guide, u only need to install a different cios249 that's d2x v10 beta52 and not beta53. You should install it using base 56 instead of 57 since you already have 57 installed to slot 250, this differs slightly from the wii.guide site (for now...)

Edit: everything else in your syscheck looks fine, any other issues may be due hardware compatibility (I. E. Your hdd) or rare game specific issues (unlikely if you've tried many games and none work). Or you could try updating your USB loader, grab it from oscwii.org, it's up to date

Yes, so I followed the site. I did the cIOS thing. Still can't install the WADS and the game still won't boot. I ordered a 1 tb HDD from amazon (yes I know 1 tb is a lot, but it was a good price compared to the smallest I could find 250 gb, and probably in the future, I'll use it for something else), just to let you know. Should be here tomorrow.

If u did the cios thing, u are done, no need to even attempt to follow a bad youtube video guide. Post an updated syscheck so we can confirm u installed it properly

Also, if u want to install cios's and other things more easily via wad form, use modmii, not some half baked video tutorial plz.

Have u confirmed you're using the latest version of loaders?
