I am having some strange problems on a USB enclosure with two different HDs. I read about last 20 pages of the long USB Loader GX thread, and also googled on this website, but could not find anything. So here are my problems:

My system is 4.1U recently upgraded from a downgraded 3.2U (was 3.4U prior). I have CIOS38rev14 on IOS249, and have NeoGamma R7 and USB Loader GX, etc. The enclosure is 2.5in no brand PATA.

The 1st HD I put in is a 40GB 4200rpm Hitachi Travelstar. I could run most of the ~15 games I tested, including some that require 002 fix enabled. I did not test alt dol games yet. The problem is that only games directly installed from the Wii USB Loader GX interface work. For several games, including Wii sports, Wii play, Mario Kart, WarioWare Smooth Moves, Wario Land Shake it, I tried to load the games from the WBFS Manager 3.0 with the iso images that I originally downloaded long time ago, they did not work. Later I reinstalled these games with the DVD+R disc on the wii, and this time they all worked. The funny thing is that, all these DVD+R discs were originally burnt from the same iso images I tried earlier. The only difference is that, the DVD+R discs were WiiBrickBlocker processed before burning on them, but the iso's I saved are still the original (not wiibrickblocker processed).

Had anyone else had the similar problem? What could be the reason for WBFS install not working while Wii install working? Could wiibrickbloker be the reason? I will try WBFS install a wiibrickblockered iso later.

The 2nd HD is a 60GB 7200rpm Hitachi Travelstar. With this HD, I could play some of the games. But for some other games that worked for the 40GB, I only get a black screen on the 60GB. I don't know if this is a compatibility issue with the USB Loader, since the same enclosure works for the 40GB, and also some games do work on the 60GB. Again, could someone point out what is the possible reason for this?

Thanks.

Bump! Any one can help?

I did some more research. It seems that both USB Loader GX and WBFS manager do scrub and brickblock the iso's when adding the game to HDD. So this should not be the cause of the problem.

So what is causing my GX installed game playable while WBFS manager installed same game not playable? Any one?

Thanks in advance!

How did you format the drive???

Have you tried reformatting it and adding the games again???

Now that I have tried some more, here are what happened:

I have originally tried a nobrand 2.5 enclosure with a 40GB HD, with single WBFS partition. Later I repartitioned it with FAT and WBFS, Later I repartitioned it again with single WBFS partition. I also tried this same enclosure with 60GB HD with single WBFS. Last, I am using a 3.5 enclosure with 300GB SATA HD, with 200MB of FAT and the rest WBFS. The formating were done mostly by WBFS manager.

I have installed about 60 games. I tried to install all of them from PC WBFS manager (sometimes WBFS Gui) with ISO's downloaded, but only a couple games (2 or 3) worked this way. For others, I have to burn to DVD+R first, and then install from DVD on Wii with USB Loader GX. work.

What could be the reason that almost only Wii install works for me?

Anyone can help me? Why only Wii install with DVD work for me? Out of ~60 games, only a couple worked with PC WBFS manager (or WBFS Gui) install. The majority of them (~58) would freeze after intro screen, or show dark screen, with PC install. Only Wii install work for those games.

My Wii is 4.1U, upgraded from 3.2U(CIOS r14) with Nintendo online upgrade, and re-downgraded IOS36 after upgrade.

Thanks

Interesting. I can only guess here >.<

Did you check the wii HD compatibility list?

Open the game .iso's using wiiscrubber, I think if they won't open they are bad images.

Why don't you:

1. Try USB Loader Config 1.5
2. Reinstall WBFS Manager (uninstall it, restart comp, install it fresh)
3. Reformat the HDD
4. Try again

Maybe it is an issue with the USB ports on your computer, maybe the enclosure is put on wrong.

Good Luck!
