Hi! I have been trying to mod my own Wii for a while, and have run into a number of issues when it came to getting games to work. I've read a lot of threads and tried a lot of things but thus far I seem to have had no luck and am appealing to the masses to see if I can work this out.
Wii has been modded successfully following this site's instructions (this had the Riiconnect24 modding guide via the Wiibrand letterbomb method linked previously)
Current installed homebrew: HBC, USBLoader Gx, CleanRip, d2x cIOS installer, HackMii, Nintendont, Priiloader and few like MyMenuify and YAWM that I don't believe are as important to mention. USBloader and HBC are as current as they can be (v 3.0 Rev 1291 for USBLoader)
Once this was done, I (through much trial and error) understood the way to get my games to work (roughly) and began using a SanDisk 128GB Ultra Flair USB 3.0 Flash Drive to try and store games to play via the USBLoader. As per famous Cyan's instructions, I ultimately wound up formatting the USB as FAT32 using FAT32 GUI Formatter software, then using the isos taken from what I ripped in March from my Dad's collection of Wii games. I've got backups of these games. I understand the formatting method (ex. Super Mario Galaxy_[RMGE01]/RMGE01.wbfs) and used Wii Backup Manager to transfer over these isos as wbfs, again, following his last exact set of instructions that I can find (I had this linked but apparently due to making an account purely to post this question, I am unable to link it). I have a set of both wbfs and isos on the USB stick (each under wbfs and games folders respectively) but half don't work properly or at all.
These resulted in the following list of some games which do and don't work through USBLoader GX.
Super Mario Galaxy - Appears in USBLoader, loads art and channel icon and plays music, but black screens and also am unable to access settings from USBloader otherwise Exception DSI occurs.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Doesn't load channel icon, and only crashes with Exception DSI when trying to access or launch
Metroid Trilogy - Appears, loads art, launches, and appears to work though I haven't actually played a game yet since I don't have access to a nunchuck at this time
Donkey Kong Country (Wii) - Appears, loads channel, but black screens upon launch, same as Mario galaxy
NBA Jam - Works, verified with some gameplay
Excite Truck - works, ****
Super Smash Brothers Brawl - Appears with blank channel, doesn't launch and only crashes game
Wii Sports - Same as brawl
Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 - Works
Punch-Out!! - Same as brawl
Ghost Squad - Same as brawl
Kirby's Epic Yarn - Loads channel, launches, but when it gets to main menu of game, Kirby makes his usual sound but no menu music plays and the game refuses to respond to the wii mote despite Kirby still playing an animation.
F-Zero Gx - Works through Nintendont, loaded on SD card
New Super Mario Bros Wii - Works, despite crashing multiple times when I first tried to launch it. No idea what changed.
My question is, what do I do next? Am I dumb with using this USB 3.0 Ultra flair?? Should I have gotten a hard drive? Or should the USBLoader be reinstalled? I also have not yet set up Riiconnect24 yet despite that being the initial interest in wii modding being for this reason.
Any and all help would be sincerely appreciated.
Yours,
A desperate newcomer
