I can launch games through USB loader DX with no issues, except when I try to use a USB Keyboard. The keyboard is compatible with the Wii, but when I launch USB loader DX it disconnects. Is there any way to use a keyboard while running USB Loader DX?

you might need a cIOS base on IOS58 for USB accessories.
you probably follow a guide which told you to install base56 and base57 in different slots. you can try installing the same cIOS (d2x v8 final, or d2x v10 r52) with base58 in another slot. people usually do that in slot 251.

once installed, you need to tell your game to use slot251 to benefit from IOS58 in it. (game>option>IOS:251)

before installing that new cIOS, try your slot where you have base57 if you are currently using the slot with base56.

another thing, how did you plug it ? directly to USB Port 1, or did you use a HUB?
hub are not working with cIOS, be sure to plug directly the usb to the console's port.

The loader itself doesn't have keyboard support. Which cIOS you should use depends on the game. For example, Animal Crossing works if you use a cIOS based on the IOS it originally used: 38.

you can try, yes.
old waninkoko cIOS were using that base. since rev18, user can choose the base IOS he wants.
56 was chosen unanimously by players and hacking guides because of it's USB access speed difference, not his compatibility with games or accessories.

it should. just try and you'll see.

if you use a v10 r53, it "should" even be plug&play !
it's what v9/r53 was coded for : detect inserted USB while the game is running. it broke compatibility with some devices, but port1 and plug&play should work instead.
just try if r53 works with your HDD, if it does you'll get the extra features as bonus. if your hdd doesn't work, too bad, go back to r52 and plug accessories before launching the game.

Yes. That will work. Just don't replace your standard ones with it. I stuck mine in 238.
