Gaming US and European versions.... differences?

Are there differences between US and European releases of the same game?

BESIDE the fact that some have foreign languages, are there any other differences within the same titled game?

Usually the later version has any bugs fixed.
It is rare if there is anything added or taken away.
But some regions versions don't link with others.

Also (not anymore, but a loooong while ago (SNES Roms, anyone)), the US versions tended to be a bit more censored than the Euro versions, which tended to be more free (but nothing like the jap versions lol).

Sometimes the different regions use a different type of save (Mr Driller 2 on the GBA is the only version I can think of right now and even then that is a minor difference),

Also because of the extra languages roms sometimes are bigger (Nintendogs is a good example for the DS and Riviera for the GBA).

Sometimes roms are censored (GBA FF4 "dancer" is the only recent one that springs to mind).

Bug fixes, I know of none for the DS although I honestly do no pay attention to such things (Perfect Dark on the N64 is about all I can think of right now).
