uploading music from an ipod to the computer

Check out YamiPod. You can run it right from the iPod itself (only iPods that operate as usb flash drives), so it requires no installation on the computer. Works with Mac, Windows, Linux.
I think Floola does the same thing.

These are good options if your looking to download music on to a friend's computer without installing iTunes and such on it.
Although, being a Mac, shouldn't it already have iTunes?

There's also, Songbird, as an alternative to iTunes.

I use Yamipod with my 3rd gen nano and it works well.
