How hard would it be to upgrade the CPU and internal storage of a 3DS? I know it would be near impossible to do CPU, but what blocks someone from doing it? As for the internal storage, this would most likely be easier to accomplish. Would it be as simple as swapping storage chips, de-encrypting on the old one (if needed), and re-encrypting on the new storage chip? It probably isn't that simple, and if it isn't, what stops that from being possible?

by mobo i don't mean bios but architecture checks specific chips looking for the right marriage of components... also i'm pretty sure we only have modified firmwares and upgrading components means actually codig it in so it works with everything else both software and hardware wise.

Short answer: it's impossible.

Summarized answer: Nothing in the 3DS was designed to be "upgraded," and nothing has been made to upgrade a 3DS. It'd be like trying to replace the frame of a Mazda Miata/MX-5 with the one for a Dodge Ram. The only way of even conceivably doing it would be by making from scratch something that barely resembles the Miata.

OR: Run Citra on PC.
