Hi,

I recently softmod my wii, with help from this forum.
https://gbatemp.net/threads/wii-newbie-need-firmware-update-advice.551042/page-2

I was using USBLoaderGX r1271 and everything was working fine via a USB stick.

I decided to upgrade to USBLoaderGX r1272, by backing up the USB:\apps\usbloader_gx directory and replacing it with USBLoaderGX r1272.
The wii still boots up fine but when I launch the USBLoaderGX from the home screen it just gets stuck on this screen.

I restored back to USBLoaderGX r1271 but still the same issue!
I even delete the cache directory on the SDCARD:\apps\USBLoaderGX but still the same issue.

Please advise!
Sunny

Ok, I found the problem to be the USB stick, maybe got corrupted.
Reformatted it and reload all the files back (pain!)

Is this a common issue?
Is it because we are forcing it to be FAT32?

Its a 64GB Kingston Data Traveler 100 G3 (USB3.0)

Hello

Usb keys are not known to work well with wii (often black screen or does not start).

Get an external hard drive and everything will be fine

External SSD also no problem?

I have an 320GB external HDD which I can use, should I format the complete disk at FAT32 in one partition?

Hello.:)

In the last weeks I have tried different SSDs (Toshiba/Sunbow/Lexar/WD/Sandisk/Crucial) with 3 different Controllers/Adapters/Housings.
ALL of them worked fine.:)

But it maybe depends on the cIOS/Base/Rev you use on Slot 249 your Wii.

Thank you.:)
