So I set up my rxtools emunand just when the first sysupdated popped up (i was on 9.9 and downgraded to 9.2, then set up the emunand). I then unlinked nands and updated emunand to 10.3 I believe.

Can I just update it to the latest version (11.0 i think?) from emunand's system settings? Or do I have to update rxtools too, somehow? I don't even know how to tell which version of Rxtools I'm running.

Sorry if this is an obvious question but I couldn't find the answer.

You only need to update from EmuNAND's System Settings. All versions of rxTools should support the latest current firmware in EmuNAND.

Ah thanks! Also I can just set up a nintendo account and go online, no? What about updating games I installed as CIAs, can I do that from the e shop or I have to download the update separately as CIAs too?

You can update games from the eShop or from the little menu that pops up when you open them (it says like press Y to update and X to play or something like that). You shouldn't need an update CIA unless you're running a game not of your condole's region or you have previously used an update cia.

Oh wow is it really that easy? I was sort of scared of updating anything from emunand, can it potentially break it or something?

You should be able to play online. You can also use CIAngel to access the eShop without actually using the eShop (basically).
Accessing the eShop shouldn't break anything (except themes or DLC, which doesn't affect everyone for some reason).

The only danger is not being in emuNAND - when you go into system settings, be careful not to exit prior to updating otherwise you'll be kicked to sysNAND.

I was just looking into that. There's also freeShop, any difference between the two?

Go with freeShop it's generally nicer.

Hm from what I understood from the freeShop thread you have to install the cia, download the encTitleKeys.bin from the 3ds title key and put it in the sd/freeshop/ directory and that's it? Can you play games downloaded that way online as well?

I need a little help with something similar, a few hours ago I updated my emunand from 9.2 to 11.0 with sysupdater ("offline" method, just in case), the thing is after the update was done, it restarted automatically, then I ran rxtools, then emunand mode, and I get black screen, nothing happens.

I extracted the SD, and my sysnand works just fine, still in 9.2.

Some people with similar issues said that probably the rxtools isn't updated, and its not supporting the 11.0 emunand I just installed.

So here's the question: How do I update rxtools? It may sound stupid, but i dont know much about all this. Can I do it without entering the emunand? Or maybe thats not the real reason of emunand not booting?

Thanks, and sorry for the horrible english.

That's all you have to do. And you can play the games just like you bought them from the eshop.

How are you booting into rxTools currently? You will be able to boot to Luma the same way: eg menuhax or browser. There should be a thread about updating from rxTools to Luma around here but basically it's just a matter of copying the Luma files to your SD and either reconfiguring menuhax or going to a different web address (and deleting the rxTools files). There does exist an rxTools build that works with 11.0 emuNAND but there's so many rxTools versions and no central repository that it would be really hard to find.

Im booting rxtools from menuhax.

So, Its better to just change to Luma instead of updating the rxtools? Luma is better in any way or its just easier to do than in my specific situation?

Thanks a lot.

Weird, the rxTools 3.0 nightly build I still have on my O3DS (from my tutorial) can boot my 11.0 EmuNAND just fine; is it a problem on the N3DS?

If I back up the entire contents of my SD card, then update and something goes wrong, can I just copy everything back again to recover to the point I was before updating?
