Gaming Updating Games

Ok my xbox 360 has ixtreme lt 1.1 and I have a few backups that ask for an update. I was just wondering if its safe to update the games online.

They should be, game updates can't mess with your DVD firmware so you'll still be fine after updating.

If copied discs ask for an update then they carry a newer update than the 360.

If it is below 8955 then stop as you have a JTAG capable system and you will want to do that to it- you lose live (system link over the internet is possible with it though) but gain region free, DLC, XBLA, USB loading, hard drive loading and much more.

If it is above the required update then there is no harm in updating.

If you want to have the title updates for a game http://www.xbuc.org/ and you will need some method of accessing the 360 hard drive (pull it apart and use 360 explorer, buy an adapter, not sure about USB on the latest update but it might be worth a look or if you have a JTAG box then many homebrew programs allow FTP).
