When going to the eshop with pirated games, if you view one of the illegitimate games in eshop (ex. Luigis Mansion), it asks for you to go to an update page.

When you go to the update page for Luigis Mansion, it wants you to download an update thats the exact same size of the game (about 220 MB). Should I install this update?

Some illegitmate games I have when viewed in the eshop say "Up to date," but the other half want me to install an update thats the same size as the game.
Wtf. I want to have a fully updated game, but I just dont understand why the "updates" are listed as the same size as the game.

Some games, like Mario Kart 7, update by simply redownloading the games and replacing the 1.0 with the 1.1. That's why newer MK7 carts come with 1.1, as the update is just baked into the cart while older carts are 1.0 as they don't have the newer version of the game. It sounds like LM is one of those games.

Luigis Mansion doesn't have an update. When you visit the eshop with pirated copies the CDN recognizes fake tickets. That's why it's prompting you to redownload the game as an update. If you attempted to, then you need to uninstall the game and ticket again and reistall the .CIA without visiting the eShop's page for the game this time.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Asfor some games showing up that way and others not, it depends on the firmware they were installed on and how you got the games. Most game downloaded directly from the CDN using "FreeShop, CiANgel, Funky Cia, Villian 3DS etc were as legit as they could get using faked tickets. The problem now is that when you attempt to download anything related the a pirated game in eShop, it recognizes the faked ticket and will refuse. Not only that but you're risking a potential ban even visiting those eShop pages letting your purchases sync with your installed titles.....
