Guys,

I've just got a phat psp, already hacked (firmware 3.80m33-5), now i wanted to update it to the newest firmware.

My question... do i need a Pandora's Battery to ONLY update from 3.80 to the newest one? (i believe its 5.0m33 correct?) Any tutorial on update? (the topic pinned has a broken link)

also where is the "safest" place to download the update? Is dl.qj.ne safe?

thanks

-Download the EBOOT of the official PSP firmware from http://rapidshare.com/files/154173870/500.PBP and put it in the root of the MS.
-Put the CF Update folder (don't know where to download it, latest one is 5.00M33-6) under PSP/GAME on your MS.
-Run the Update from the PSP under games section.
-5.00M33!

P.S: You don't need Pandora if your PSP is already hacked.

Just select network update and everything should be done automatically.

But it will update to an official firmware i think. I don't know if the dark_alex server was enabled in the 3.80 custom firmware.

@Hero-Link: Have you downloaded the 5.00M33-6 Update folder? I haven't linked it in my previous post. XD
You can grab it from here: http://rapidshare.com/files/186553068/500m33_6.zip and you have to put it in PSP/GAME on your MS.

He Doesn't want official firmware.

Indeed i do not, just wanna fool around with some emulators and such, but i want to keep it up-to-date for better compatibility.

dark_vivi, ah nvm, i didnt put the folders, everything is going fine now

It wont upate you to the official firmware, 3.80m33-5 has been hacked so when you select network update it connects to Dark Alex's site and not Sony server.

I think that feature was introduced only in later updates. XD
Well, good to know. ^^

Firmwares from 3.71 M33-4 upwards have the m33 network update feature.

Not quite...the M33 Network Update was incorporated on 3.80 M33. Try it on 3.71 M33-4 and you'll be wearing an unhappy face.

I stand corrected, but at least I was correct in my first reply, he could have updated through Network Update

It's all good Tanas...wasn't meaning to be pedantic, just wanted to avoid any future readers ending up in OFW land.
