Hacking Update to 4.x without retail game

I have a 3DS With system ver 1.0, Is there any way to update to 4.x without retail game card ?

Simple answer is no, do not try any other way either. Use a cart.

You don't even need a specific title, you can get any game with an update up to 9.2, and if you want you can downgrade

v1.0 doesn't have an internet browser, and cart updates will not install it. Going past 4.X would mean that he would have no usable exploits, as all post 4.X exploits require usage of the internet browser in some form.

OP, update to 4.X with retail, you don't have another option.

Hmm, Didn't know that Game updates did not include the full update, thought it was the same as downloading it from the servers.
In the case all he has are games like Luigi's mansion.

I was just proven wrong that game updates do not include a web browser, and since he is in 1.0 he won't get a web browser even if he updates via retail cart.

I misunderstood. But due to it not being a full system upgrade, he will not get the browser using a cart?

If he updates via System Settings he will update to 9.5, he will get the browser but the firmware will not be exploitable
