Hacking Question update joycon without going online?

is it possible to update/check for updates the joycons without going online?

I bought a set of joycons and they seem laggy, was going to try update. Previously i had updated my other pair, is the update stored on the console?

Not sure whether or not the update comes from the firmware or if it has to check online. If you are on the latest firmware now, try to use the update controller feature (while being offline ofcourse) and see what happens. If it errors out or asks for internet connection, you will have your answer. If it updates, you will also have your answer. Also, please let us know the outcome once you do.

Alternatively, you can update your joycons by connecting them to another Switch console. If you do not have one, then maybe a friend or family members Switch will do the trick.

As far as I can tell, it works fine. Turned on flight mode and it checked succesfully.
