Is it safe to do emuNAND updates through notifications? Some people claim through settings but I don't really know...

It's all the same afaik but you need to be really darn sure you are in emuNAND.

My emuNAND always has a theme setup, which my sysNAND doesn't. It is full of icons of games, sysNAND has no connections setup... Chances are MINIMAL I suppose?

And this only works for o3DS. N3DS only supports emunand up to 9.5, so updating through settings (Or otherwise) will cause emunand to not boot.

People say that only because they want the users to make absolutely sure they aren't on sysnand. There is no actual difference between the two methods.
