no, you don't need to be on update 8.0.0 to install them

To work they may need 7.0.0+. For now no game or update require 8.0.

So the Switch will overclock the cpu regardless of the firmware ? You really just need the game updates?
I heard that the boostmode works only on 8.0 and upwards. Can someone clarify this ?

Boost mode is in FW from 7.0.0, but no games used this until now.

I don't know if working boost mode needs 8.0.
