Darn it I am working on something like this. But it is going to be able to parse the guide automatically every hour or so and keep the results in a database. No manual updates necessary (this tool could be dangerous if the XML is ever out of sync with the guide). I had a version working great but it required changes to the guide, which I spent too much time on and the pull request ultimately got rejected.

It's hard when you are studying university, working full time, have to study stuff for work outside of working hours, look after family members and help people on these forums (to be fair the last one is not necessary and I should do it less) -_-
I've tried to have this as self-updating as required, as it checks if it needs an update every launch. Hopefully the XMLs are actually updated. I've just started school again so I've had to balance that with this project. Perhaps you could help with the project?

There was something like this for the Wii scene and it was very popular. Glad to see it happenning with this scene. One of the most time consuming things about the plailect guide is hunting down all those loose files. Hope this tool will be integrated at some point with the guide.
ModMii?

How are you planning to have the XML automatically update? Just out of curiosity.

All XMLs will have the option to have an update server, and the tool will download and replace the local one if the site's is newer. It won't have to download the whole one every time as it first downloads a small file that just has the version number and the url of the actual XML, then that is what's compared to the local version. Also there is a way of notifying a user that their binary is older than the XML, just in case new features come out.

So the XML needs to be manually updated with each guide change?

i was however it may because im using openjdk rather than the official repo.
Running apt-get default-jre right now. I'll see if the official works.
Seems that "default-jre" is Java 7, but SDHelper uses Java 8. I'll see if I can manually install it.
