Hacking Unpatched switch

I am wanting to sort out a switch for my niece.

I have looked online for an unpatched switch but no luck!

Am I right in thinking this would be my only option? The switch lites etc are patched and so cannot run CFW? And there are no other models that can have CFW put on them?

Your options are unpatched Switch, patched Switch on 4.0 firmware or lower, and that's it for now. Supposedly TX is working on solution for all other models but no ETA.
