yea $69.00 or £35.00 is a lot for what it is. maybe searching around i could find it cheaper

Dealextreme have a cheap one for $11.66, don't know how it compares to more expensive ones though. Regardless of what you buy though I can't imagine the British weather providing all that much sunlight to these panels - maybe enough to run your DS in sleep mode?
