Unity games on Wii

thank you very much it works

I have two questions

1-when I run my game on Wii, the home button doesn't work, I get stuck in the game

2- I heard in your tutorial that the 3D models do not work if they are not in FBX 2010, they disappear, or the animations do not work, what can I do to make them compatible
1.- Home button seems to work for me. No idea tbh.
2.- No idea. I got meshes to load but once I set the animations, the model disappears. This does not happen on editor, just on retail and emulator.

Btw, I just made a full tutorial separated to this thread so we can share there all the knowledge we get about the topic. At least without the official unity addon...

Thanks for your detailed tutorial. I just read fast through it until there came a note that this won't work for complex games, because you will need more knowledge of the programming in order to make it run on the wii. I know this method is just in early test stage yet, but with your knowledge right now would you say that this method might work for the game "Jagged Alliance" for example?

New joiner; long time lurker. I remember looking at this thread a year ago. Can't believe it's actually a reality.

Manurucker, did you attempt this because of this thread, or had you the idea previously?

For making complex stuff you need general unity and gamedev knowledge. The wii is a really low-end device and we don't have much resources available. With time and patiente... I'd say yes, you should be able to make it.

I have about 10 years of dev experience with Unity and I've made homebrew stuff on 3ds, wii u, ps vita, ps3, ps4, xbox 360, switch... I just wondered how it would be making stuff for Wii. There is no info about it at all. Only people saying Unity never supported wii (even if Unity supported Wii until Unity 4.2)... and surfing the internet saw the PPC thing and said, why not? and it ended up partially working xD

For 1, that's a sign that the Wii crashed.

Incredible! Does this mean there's essentially no caveats now on making Wii unity games?

We don’t have the official playback engine so troubles will eventually appear but it’s a huge step.

I still need to test if Unity 4.0, 4.1 or 4.2 are available for wii as I had to modify the UnityEditor.dll to skip the BuildTools calls and those can be easier to “patch” for the license (i had to manually edit the ulf to enable Wii support).
