Actually they did think of it as a game medium, but now they're stuck with DVD's just like Nintendo WiiMovi said:Since when did MS care about HD-DVD? They never intended to use it as a game medium, and the drive was an addon. Meh. The one who cries right now is Toshiba

Jiggah said:It definitely was not Apple. They bought 86-DOS (QDOS) from Seattle Computer Products. It then became MS-DOS, which lead to Windows.
On topic, Sony did everything right from the get go this time around. People complain about "dirty" tactics, but it's business people. Toshiba also bought out studios (too bad it's was too late).

It really depends on how you look at it. I feel that sony is EVIL EVIL EVIL because they did not let me chose which format to purchase. Also, HD-DVD is the better format. There is no copy protecting and there is only 1 version. That 1 version has as many features as the yet unreleased version 2 bluray.
I am going to buy an HD-DVD player when they get down to 50 USD and a writer when they get to the 100-200 USD range. Check the sig for when I will buy bluray.
Sony bought this format war after loseing EVERY single war before this. They did not let the consumer chose. I will not let a facist demonic company dictate what I buy. I will never buy another sony product.
