Hacking UMDGen problem

Tried it and it still crashes.

Yes I updated everything to the latest.

You got an XP Disc handy? You could use VMWare Player and set up a virtual pc with a connection to your psp iso folder and run umdgen through that and it will be usable on 7, I do that with non windows 7 compatible apps like when I mess with my Palm Z22

I might actually try this since it might be the only way I could get it to work properly.

Its not so bad to get set up but if you need a hand you can always drop me a pm or something and I can assist ya

Edit: I'll be in bed for a while sleeping but feel free to contact me if you want a hand with anything :)

does it always say the same error ? app crash etc ? i heard this is similiar http://filetrip.net/psp-downloads/tools-utilities/download-pbp-unpacker-094-f6777.html or , try taking down your firewalls temporarily. Also, disable your Antivirus (only long enough to DL the program). If you are still having problems i have other solutions
Tried all of that before and no difference.

Download Dependency Walker:

Extract it somewhere and run it. Go to file>open and select UMDGen.exe. What this program does is list all the files needed to run the program. In the middle area above the log window you'll probably see red text. Everything listed here are files that your missing and are needed to run the program. Of course just because your missing some files that doesn't mean you can't run the program but it gives you an idea of what run-time files your missing or something.

Select the files that say "Error opening file. The system cannot find the file specified"(Click on Top item, hold shift and press down until you select all of em or hold ctrl and click on each one) and then right click on the blue and select "Copy File Names" then paste those names here.

*EDIT* Made sure you only select the ones that say "Error opening file. The system cannot find the file specified" we don't need to see every dll listed there.

I did that then I had to download 2 DLL files but i'm not sure what i'm meant to do with them.

Try putting them in the same directory as UMDGen.exe if that fails you'll probably need to put them in C:\windows\system32.

I asked you to paste the missing .dll files though because you might be missing runtime files. It sounds like it to me though but see if that works.

I tried that and it still doesn't run also they were SYSNTFY.DLL, gpsvc and IEShims that was said to be missing.

That's it? none of those files are required for it to run. You can try Profile>Start Profile>Hit ok and see what happens. It'll log the stuff that happens while it tries to run although in the end UMDGen will pop up a window saying your running a debugger and you need to cut it out. However since you can't even run it you might find a error or something listed in the log.
