Hi, I have a modded 3.2U Wii and I want to upgrade it to 4.0.
I want to do it with the Online methode, but it saids that I need the Homebrew channel installed. The fact is that I tried to install it all the night but I didn't find how. I don't want to install the Twilight Channel, because I don't own Zelda.

I downloaded the all-in-one HackMii Installer (from the Homebrew Channel website), but I don't know what to do after. Do I need to create a image with all those files? Please help.

Nowhere in this process will a disc be involved so no you don't make an image. Everything is done from an sd card.

So, feel free to yell at me and whatever, but I had not done anything since gamma was first released. I met the "Prerequisites" and followed the instructions correctly. After running the 4.0 updater I cannot launch the HBC, and it just hangs on a black screen. Any help would be appreciated.

Follow the instructions in the link I posted right above your post. You just need to reinstall the HBC through the hackmii installer again.

Ah thanks! I read up to.. the 12th page and got lazy! Ill try this right away.

EDIT: Thanks again, nabster92!! The HBC is working fine now... but should I continue with the IOS 60 installation? I tried playing a bunch of games with my installed gamma channel and they work fine. I am a nub and was just wondering about the benefits of installing it.

Anyway... thanks again. You guys really saved me.

I've had my wii for about 2 years now. It is currently running on 4.0E official firmware and has HBC installed using bannerbomb. Will I be able to use the offline method to install cIOS and preloader?
can someone please help me here?

Yes. Just skip steps 4-8 since you have HBC already.

Edit: Beaten cause I didn't refresh the page for 20 minutes

Okay, now I'm a step 3;
3) Downgrade to 3.2 using cIOS Downgrader even if you are already on 3.2 run this

But the only available firmwares are;
2.0U/E/J
2.1U/E/J
2.2J/U/E

What should I do now, I'm already in 3.2U.

Okay, me again.
I did all the steps of the Online tutorial. After steps 7;

7) Hold reset while powering on to access preloader and set preloader settings. In preloader hacks enable "Skip disc update check"

I return to my Wii menu and everything was the same as before. Do I need to restart from the steps 4.
Or do the official 4.0 update from Nintendo?

PS: Sorry for the double reply!

Hello everyone, i installed the System Menu 4.0 and the preloader Using only the Offline tutorial, first of all excelent topic, everything is working except for one thing: The SD Menu Hangs...

When i enter the SD Menu it checks my SD (1GB not SDHC), i have no WiiWare or VC Games inside, and when the progress popup is fading the System Menu Hang and i need to shut down and turn on again in the console.

-About the installation:
I began at step 9 because i already have HBC and the cIOS used by the USBLoader 1.5, these two are the only software mods i've made in my wii
The settings menu still works and shows 4.0U
I downloaded the offline package and updated my old FW( 3.4U ) to FW4( 417 ), MooSFV fully verified the content of the package

-About the Preloader:
No hacks set, only the config to start at the System Menu when turn on.
Running cIOS60.

-About the SD:
The only thing inside are a few apps for HBC and the content in the offline tutorial.

What's the problem?

i heard about "preloader 0.29 screws with the SD stuff" (an overload of information in just a few words...), is this true?

Check your private folder on your sd card, do you still have the bannerbomb file on it? If so that would be one reason the SD menu would crash...because that's basically what bannerbomb is supposed to do.

sry, got a short question:

today i installed cioscorp and cios60BF on my 4.0E .
but now i cant run custom channels from sd-menu (which i think is because cios60 doesnt seem to be patched).
is there a way to have both, copies through disc-channel and custom channels on sd-card-menu?

Truly excellent guide. Just tested on a Virgin 4.0E Wii, folllowed instructions to the letter, except I installed BootMii first and did a NAND backup. Serial number LEH235XXXXX

Backup launchers, gamecube backup launcher, usb loader, VC/WW all working correctly.

Hey guys,

Followed the OFFLINE guild completely, but when I try to install 'Preloaderv0.29' I get the followed error on a black screen:

Failed to BOOT, current IOS(36) has the fakesign bug fixed

Where have I gone wrong? lol

Thank you soo much for your help in advanced.

All the best!
