Dear assassda,

Offline Downgrading/Upgrading

Instructions.jpg

Im on Firmware 4.0U
Never ran cios before
im a noob at this

i have run my prepare files (all files come out with all green checks.)
i drag the contents of the sd folder into my sd card.
i go on my wii and i go to apps and i run cmdvd35 and clicked on downgradeIOS35.
it says network error. i try to use home botten but dont work i tried everything to go back to wii menu. so i gave up and unpluged the wii and it came at my disk channal update (i think that means it was successful).
i go to WMIOS35 and click IOS35-64-1040.
it installes correctly so i try to exit using home botten and it says loading menue or some thing and i wait for 5 min and it stays frozen! so i unplug my wii and the update is gone from disk channal.
then i go back in WMIOS35 and click Ciosv9.wad
it faild installing i kept retrying it, still nothing
i try to exit using the home botten but it gets frozen again so i unplug my wii.

ive done this methode 5 times.......

if thats all right tell me to move on if im wrong please correct me

I have a problem

I put the 4.0

But now when I go I see the menu and the save of the sd, the wii freezes ç_________ç
ive never heard of that before but sounds like a system menu problem.
try reinstalling IOS30 and cIOS60 and then reinstall your SystemMenu.wad
if that doesnt fix it try removing the private directory from your SD card or try formatting your SD card

please dont bump so much, it wont make me answer any faster.
look in the top left corner when you start WMIOS35, does it say using IOS35 or IOS249?
if you cannot install ciosv9.wad try installing 1-18 and downgrading to 3.2
if you can downgrade to 3.2 then run the normal cios36-rev9-installer.dol

While trying to install this upgrade I had an issues that others posted here. When installing I got a ret -2011 error. I did a lot of searching and reading and I finally solved this by downgrading using this method:

Thank you for bringing this to my attention! I have fixed the 2011 error in my Offline Guide.

I also updated the offline guide for people with Virgin 4.0 Wiis using bannerbomb to install the HBC!!

Yeah, I got hit with the -2011 error on installing the ciosv9.wad, too. It was a virgin 3.3U Wii and I used BannerBomb to install the HBC.

I noticed your new instructions don't include ciosv9.wad at all. When you release the new download, I'll try finishing the install. Right now, I'm happy at 3.3U and able to run the USB loader. (I had to also use cIOS36_rev9-Installer for the USB loader and install IOS53-64-v4113.wad for BIT.TRIP.BEAT to work.)

BTW, I installed preloader already. At what point will I need to re-install it due to the 4.0 upgrade? Do I need to uninstall it first?

yeah it uses cios_fix.wad to avoid the 2011 error and then uses the normal cios rev10 installer

you only need to reinstall preloader if you install IOS30 IOS60 or a new System Menu. you never need to uninstall preloader

Does this leave the "auto-update the system without asking you" intact?
if so i assume that the preloader get rid of that successfully?
QUOTEthe wii will always ask you before installing an update so dont worry about that. if you are paranoid about nintendo you can always turn off wiiconnect24
system menu 4 - nintendo changed the terms and conditions to say that they CAN update without asking
on the older version they DO ask...

so the question still remains... any idea if hte waninkoko 4.0 process takes care of that?
i went ahead with the update anyway (THANKS
biggrin.gif
) but cannot see an option in preloader 0.29 to do it, (just a skip-disk-update option)

anyone else any ideas?

Can anybody help me.

I followed this tutorial to installed system menu 4. I had 3.2u, now

I get a black screen no more Wii Menu, anyhelp.

I did reinstalled preloader and nothing.

I can load preloader or HBC.

Any help please

Offline Downgrade/Upgrade

Prerequisites:
--SD card
--Read the FAQ and be prepared with a general knowledge of Wii Homebrew

This package contains instructions on how to acquire the necessary files from Nintendo to do an offline update
This package will work on ANY Wii! Virgin or Nintendo Official Updated without cios!!

1) Extract the files somewhere on your hard drive such as C:\wii\ and run prepare.bat

2) Check that the WAD files are correct with MooSFV. If any files are not correct run clean.bat and start over

If you already have the Homebrew Channel you may skip steps 3-8 follow steps A-C
Otherwise continue with 3-8 and skip A-C

3) Make sure there is no cioscorp folder and rename your old private folder. Copy the contents of the sd1 folder to your SD card

4) Insert the SD card in the Wii and go to Data Management>Channels>SD Card press YES on the dialog box that asks to load boot.dol

5) When CMDVDX35 starts choose Downgrade IOS35. It might say network error just ignore it and choose Exit

6) Delete boot.dol and copy the contents of the sd2 folder to your SD card.

7) Run WAD Manager using bannerbomb choose IOS35 and install IOS35-64-v1040.wad then restart

8) Run WAD Manager using bannerbomb again choose IOS35 and install HomebrewChannel.wad then restart

---------------------------------------

A) Make sure there is no cioscorp folder. Copy the contents of the sd2 folder to your SD card

B) Run CMDVDX35 and choose Downgrade IOS35. It might say network error just ignore it and choose Exit

C) Run WAD Manager choose IOS35 and install IOS35-64-v1040.wad then restart

----------------------------------------

9) Now Using the Homebrew Channel Run WAD Manager choose IOS35 and install cios_fix.wad then restart

10) Run cIOS36_rev10-Installer and choose WAD Installation

11) Run WAD Manager choose IOS249 and install WADs 01-18

12) While still in WAD Manager install SystemMenuv###.wad

13) Run preloaderv0.29-cred and press 1 to install

14) Hold reset while powering on to access preloader and set preloader settings. In preloader hacks enable "Skip disc update check"

15) If you installed the Homebrew Channel using a WAD run the HomebrewChannel Installer to fix the installation

load it up again and start with the wad you left off on (the one it froze on)
ive had it happen to me about every 4 wads too and i dont know the cause. only happens on some wiis

another cuestion... about CIOSCORP, If i don't install this, I won't be able to run any game from the disc channel??? or does it mean that the disc channel will not work only for Backup disks????

CIOSCORP allows you to directly boot backups from the disk channel without any need for a loader application (i.e. USB Loader / Gamma Launcher).

Updated from 3.2E to 4.0E using offline method.

Only problem I had was when I ran the cIOS_fix i got an error (maybe because I had Softmii'd previously??) but I just skipped this step and everything still works fine.

Thanks for making it so easy assassda!!

running prepare.bat will give you SystemMenu417.wad or whatever version you picked in the folder .\sd\wad\

updated guide slightly so you dont need to replace boot.dol

anyone interested in a CIOSCORP downloader?

Ok guys, I upgraded, using the Online part of this guide... no problems... but then I installed Preloader 0.29, i went in, Installed, then got to Settings and set Autoboot to System Menu, but after i saved settings, i did not know how to go back to the Preloader main screen to choose the hacks!

Sorry but now i get an error saying "Couldn't find "hacks.ini" neither on FAT nor on NAND!"

Did i do something wrong here?

EDIT: OK I GOT IT WORKING BY COPYING THE "hacks.ini" to the root of the SD... whent into Hacks and i only got the "Skip Disk update" option... is this all I need?

Also I thought the "hacks.ini" fiile was supposed to get copied to the NAND....

am I going in the wrong direction here?
