uLaunch - custom, open source Nintendo Switch HOME menu reimplementation

uLaunch

The themeable Nintendo Switch HOME Menu Nintendo forgot to make

This isn't some kind of HOME Menu extension, injection, patch, etc.: uLaunch is an entire reimplementation (of key components), 100% open-source!

Let uLaunch be the HOME Menu Nintendo never bothered to make!

When Atmosphère (pre-)releases supporting 20.0.X firmwares, I'll also release the next uLaunch release, v1.2.0.
You can check the current changes here, and even test the latest builds I periodically share in my Discord server (the last one I shared was compiled with the latest Atmosphère changes and 20.0.X!)

Can I add a RetroArch game/rom in ulaunch as a menu item without having to make a forwader? I see references in release notes to a "RetroArch plugin" , but how to use?

I’ve just released uLaunch v1.2.0! There are many changes as always, so please take a look at them here:
https://github.com/XorTroll/uLaunch/blob/unew/cur-changelog.md

Among the various improvements and new features, this release fixes support for Atmosphère 1.9.0 and firmwares 20.0.0/20.0.1, so go check it out:

Yeah this was a feature in the old PC tool, I've been considering for a while to add this as a feature on the menu itself, it's one of the many things I still have pending to do :P

I installed uLaunch it looks just OK nothing special but it's sluggish I mean slow to navigate between games or do anything apart from playing games,is it supposed to be this way ?

I had to delete it it's too painfully slow, either it's too much for switch to run or just bad optimization.

Are you on 20.0.1? I heard that there might be an issue with that fw.

Yeah, there are some problems with very, very slow icon loading for people who have several games, this is due to changes in 20.0.x firmware (other homebrew has similar problems). I'll try to fix it as soon as possible, since I only have a few games on my console I didn't notice any lag when testing :P

Hi there! Great work! Just switched to it yesterday on CFW 20.1. It's not perfect, but I will keep using it and don't plan on reverting to the original dashboard. The organisation of the HomeScreen with folders, etc. comes in so handy, I can't do without it.
It would be awesome to be able to rename tiles, besides the ability to rename folders. That's what I miss most. Also, custom icon graphics (png, jpg) would be very nice.
But even without this it's great tbh.
Question: tried creating a shortcut to Tinfoil. Comes up with memory error and suggests application-mode. There is a setting for running homebrew launched from an application, i suppose similar to pressing "R"-trigger when launching on the stock firmware. However, it doesn't seem to be functional.
Also not a showstopper because the "R"-trigger trick still works in uLaunch, just requires tighter timing.
Thank you!

Since the stock options menu is outright replaced, how would I move games between SD card and the NAND with Ulaunch installed? (Besides removing and re-adding Ulaunch)
Goldleaf afaik seems to lack any option to move games between storages.

Does this conflict with sysDVR? I basically want to install this on my Switch Lite with the end goal of having it dockable via PC dock + Nvidia Shield.

Or is uLaunch able to do it natively via USB?
