in order to install fmcb by using a swap magic disc, does it need to be a 3.8 coder version, or can it be a 3.6?

and a quick other question, when its finally installed does it format the memory card so that the previous saves are deleted?

any feedback is great, thanks!

I used version 3.8.
Check to see if 3.6 can load elf files maybe? Im not sure.
** looked on google, you should be able to use 3.6

It is wise to format the memory card when installing FMCB on the memory card.
FMCB gives you the option to format it or not, but I read that it is best to use a fresh memory card for the install.

agh, another question, sorry but im a noob to the ps2 scene, haha, obviously.

but, after fmcb is installed will it function as a normal ps2 with its original functions such as playing original games and running cds and dvds, but also function as a homebrew player and will play patched .iso files that were burned to a dvdr?

yup

the exploit is installed onto the memory card
once the PS2 is booted with that memory card installed, it automatically hijacks the system OS and starts its own which is very similar to the original except you can boot homebrew apps from the ps2 main menu

on my main menu I have
HD Loader
COGSWAP
PSX Launcher
ESR
uLaunch Elf

and the 2 normal PS2 menu items

if you remove the memory card, it functions like a normal PS2, no exploit, etc
think of it as a flashcart for NDS basically

ah ic, thats pretty cool. haha kinds figured that out by now. sorry for the reeeallly long wait for a response. =[

so basically without the memory card it would function as a normal ps2.

thanks!
