Now, my question. Is there any visual novels like 999? I'd like to try something that is similar to it.

Ever17 or Remember 11.
Ever17 was officially released in English, Remember 11 has a patch.

Ever17 is a masterpiece, and is definitely worth checking out if you like 999. I BELIEVE 999 was written by the same person/people who did Ever17 and such.

Only annoyance with Ever17 is the translation clearly didn't get spellchecked. It's fantastic and coherent, but sometimes they misspell a world or two. Doesn't take away from the story at all though.
Regardless, it's incredibly long, and awesome.
