I did that with my first wii - one of the traces came right off and i thoght OHH FUCK - i closed it and it still worked so i left it as it was ... im sure something doesnt work but i havent found it just yet thank god

Its now a chipped - non chipped wii - total waste of money , time and effort and involved a lot of cursing,sweating, and confusion.

Well, there is hardly any risk if you let someone do it who does it for his business (or makes money)?
Ohh your wrong there - no one will guarantee a wii chip - they are really hard to do so no one gives guarantees with them.

Maybe that's why the guy was so hesitant with answering that question. But if it's solderless, is there an issue like that? Isn't it easier?

I hoenstly wish I would have waited for the softmod to come instead of opening my wii and strugling with the modchip installation. I'm thinking of a second wii that will be softmod only.

Thanks guys for all your feedback.

I managed to buy a previously owned copy of Zelda for £23 which I can trade back for £12.

I didn't have the link to djTaz's How to install page hence, I tried to follow Big Moes instructions. I didn't have the patience to wait for Big Moes links so I downed djTaz's zip but replaced the boot.dol with The Homebrew Channel ver 1.0.1 from hackmii.com

I managed to get the homebrew channel installed and after running the cIOS installer I ran Cios_Downgrader_V1.2 to upgrade from 3.1 E to 3.2 E.
Finally I installed starfall and tested MPlayerWii which ran fine except for some caching problems with video streaming.

I've tried two back up games via the backup launcher and they both run without any problems. Incidentally, Imgburn kept blue screening under win2k hence I used Nero's image burning wizard at 6x speed on Maxell DVD-R's.

The weather channel updates and runs fine but the news channel comes up with an error code.
Haven't tried the shopping channel yet.

Finally, what I need to know is;
How can I fix the news channel and is it safe to let my nephew play Zelda and overwrite or save to the hacked twighlight save file?

Also, I cann't seem to get any of the apps from hbc.hackmii.com (gc-linux, tetris etc) to run. But not too bothered about that.

One last totally Noob point: What other channels can I get and how?

Would running the 'IOS51 Installer' followed by the 'Wiishop Installer' as described in Big Moe's guide, help fix the news channel?
