Installed on sysNAND and i got "An error has occurred turn off the console." Blah blah blah. Something's definitely up with US consoles if the CIA still doesn't work when installed in sysNAND

ShadowOne333 - I believe the reason why this works is because the 3ds you are installing it on previously had four swords on it.
as in, somewhere on the system etc, it knows that you bought it - that is why it works.

if you were to install the game by running devmenu from sysnand (= if you use an sd card without emunand) - it would be the same result, it should work, and you wouldn't have had to mess about with going to app data and getting stuff wiped :)

this will work for gba games, yes, but only if the 3ds you are installing them on has/had(?) an ambassador certificate, + maybe the game you are installing.
it would have been nice if you tested this a bit more before suddenly making a 'tutorial'... :)

Friendsxix - thanks! ha

I think the reason why this works is because Four Swords was free to download without needing a code, it's not linked to your console like purchased content would be.

no, even free content is linked to your account :) it's not the reason this works, otherwise everyone would simply be able to install it on sysnand (or emunand, copy to sd, sysnand, copy from sd - but that's just a weird way )

You can install it to sysnand, the reason why people say not to is the same reason why people are wary about installing channel wads on wii.

On the Wii, custom/modified channels used the trucha bug to patch the signature, but this bug does not exist on the 3DS, if you install a fake signed cia to your sysnand, then it will most likely brick after a reboot and you can't just remove your sd card to fix it, because DSi gets installed to your twlnand.

Also just linking nands doesn't do the trick here, you guys get the error, because you don't have the needed ticket on your sysnand.
If this cia is indeed correctly signed, then it should be safe to install it on sysnand, but don't do this if you have no hardmod!

Note: this ticket has no console id, don't know if that even matters, but just for your information:

I had it on my previous 9.2 before I downgraded, but when I downgraded I formatted the sysnand, woudn't that have removed the ability for me to play it? Because I can install and run it... I guess thats why then.

Also tested the cia from the net. It installs and runs on my standard usa 3ds. So I guess its because I already owned them? That they run even though I formatted the sysnand?

Its probably signed since i installed it on my sysNAND and it didn't bricked my 3DS XL.

I knew ShadowOne333 was full of shit.
LOL no I'm not, take a look a this user's comment:

It works, but I didn't take into account that after a complete system format the tickets would still be there.

just because it is signed properly or not does not mean you will brick your 3ds... :) don't worry about stuff like that
Wait..... so installing a improperly signed cia bricks your entire system? Clarify please.
it doesn't

Note: i did not try it myself, this is just a theory!

Installing a fake signed cia to your sysnand installs a fake ticket to your system and data to your sd card.
After you reboot, the home menu trys to load your sd data and then it will check signature -> boom! "An error has occured, please turn off your system!".

Technically you can fix it by removing your sd card, but dsi data gets installed to your twl nand -> you can't remove it.

So it should brick your system.

yeah, it seems that way, i could be wrong... yes even though you formatted it will works (it seems)
but if it was a 3ds that didn't have it, it wouldn't work.

not at all :( from one guy posting something incorrect we get stuff like this?
cias that are not properly signed/does not match up, are simply ignored

Well it was worth trying, i have the game anyway on my 9.4 3DS XL. Would've been neat to have another 3DS with the game on it though but, the 3DS is not like the Wii ATM. Unless someone somehow finds a way to patch the signature, we won't be able to run the game at all. Still amazed though the time machine CIA works on any 3DS but that's probably because its signed properly or something.

When I try to copy Four Swords over, it says data could not be copied. I assume I have a linked nand, seeing as I never formatted either one of them. Any help?

EDIT: aaaaand I just read the page behind me. Never mind! :P

sorry to bump this misleading thread, but it just gave me an idea
i have a download code for a dsiware game that i've been unable to use for ages due to not being able to access the eshop on sysnand
if i make a new emunand and keep it linked to sysnand, update it to 9.4 and download the game from the eshop, would i be able to copy it back to sysnand? or would it only be in the emunand's ticketdb and fail to copy over? i'm obviously not an expert on this stuff and just want to be sure of what i'd be doing before i waste the code.
