Hacking [Tutorial] Placing a DS rom on your flashcard

In this tutorial I’m gonna explain how to put a DS rom on your slot1 flashcard, like a R4DS.

To follow this tutorial, you’re going to need these things:
- A slot1 flashcard that works on a DS (like R4DS, DSTT or an M3Real)
- A microSD if your flashcart supports that

All these things can be bought at www.digimartz.com

First you need a DS rom, and for that I suggest you search a bit around on the Internet.

If you have downloaded the DS rom, you’re going to have a .rar file.

In this example I’m using Mario Kart DS

That .rar file contains your DS rom.
To get your DS rom out of that .rar file, you need this program:
http://www.rarlab.com/rar/wrar371.exe
Download and install that program.

If you have installed WinRar, then you need to rightclick on the .rar file, and select the third option from above.

Click on the third option from above

Now you’re either going to have a .nds file (and some other files, but only the .nds file is needed) or you’re going to have several other .rar’s, that end on .00 , .01, .02, .03, ...
If you have files that end on .00 , .01, .02, .03, ..., you just have to rightclick on the file that ends on .00 and pick the third option from above.

At this point you can delete your .rar file(s), because there is no use anymore for those files, unless you want to save them.

Now all we have to do is place the .nds file on your flashcard.
Plug your microSD in your PC.

In this case the E drive is my microSD, in your case it could be a different drive.

Open the drive on your PC, and place the .nds file where U want it.
On my microSD that is in a folder called ‘Games’, but you can call the folder different, or don’t even put the .nds file in a folder.
Place everything on your microSD, and if you want to remove him, click on this icon in the bottomright.

Left click on that icon

Leftclick on that icon, and then click on ‘Station (E’ safe removal’ or if you’re microSD is in station F, then you have to left click on that.
Now plug your microSD/SD/miniSD in your flashcard, and start playing!

step 1:download rom
step 2:unzip
step 2a: trim
step 3: drag and drop onto microSD
voila!

Although I appreciate the effort, I don't think this is such a useful tutorial.

Hell, even my friend, who has no knowledge of using a flashkart, managed to put a game in, and played it.

Well, it wasn't that much work and I though that alot of noobs would need this. I have a friend who has a flashcard too, and he's quite retarded when it comes to computers.
The last time I checked his microSD, he had the .rar files, the NFO's and the .nds file on his microSD

I can't believe you used more than 5 lines for this tutorial man.

1) Backup your legal cart with Slot2 card with NDS Backup Tool
2) Insert MicroSD card to computer
3) Rename game to appropriate name
4) ?????????
5) PROFIT!

I have seen a lot of "What do I do with this zip file?" posts lately. When I read them I think "How did you even get to this point?"
I really hope this will help those people. But I think the people that need this help are also the ones who refuse to search for anything on their own and may never even look for it.
